Japan's Weekly Blu-ray and DVD Rankings for Dec 12 - 18

Damn Touken Ranbu sold pretty decently here honestly, well it wouldn't be surprising since it is pretty popular in Japan xD

Some 2016 Yearly BD/DVD (2015/12/14～2016/12/11) data is out (i'm guessing from Oricon Biz), as I can't find any of this on Oricon Youtaiju yet.

As usual, Arashi gets #1 in total sales among music artist, while AKB48 is nowhere near Arashi this time around. μ's also ceased activities as a group (which is pretty much disbanded) after Day 2 of their Final Concert (April 1), but still managed to get into the Top 10 for a 2nd year in a row.

I'm not surprised by Touken Ranbu's sale figures. Expecting the ufotable version to sell at a similar rate.

I'm saying about the sales on Japan and the popularity of it in the "West" and in MAL are contradicting.

Well never mind, as long as I watch a decent to great new shows to keep me entertained every season, I won't care about this sales.

It's not that dramatic. The "West" and Japan still share 3 of their top 5 with Haikyuu, Yuri on Ice and Drifters. The two big differences are Touken Ranbu because the game is popular in Japan and UtaPri because idols are more popular in Japan.

Man, this ranking seems to be a joke. Seriously Touken Ranbu?
It's like the reverse result basing the current ranking in MAL.
The "West" and Japan seems to be contradicting on their taste.

You should pay more attention to release dates. Izetta v1 isn't released until tomorrow in Japan so it's sales will show up NEXT week, not this week. Don't get your hopes up too high though as predictions are only looking like about 2500 copies. Not a total disaster of a bomb but not good sales, especially for an original anime which can't rely on source material sales boosts to make up for poor anime sales. We'll just have to hope for a lot of hug pillow and figure sales or something.

I actually expected Tourabu to sell more than 19k given its popularity in Japan, lol. Or is everyone waiting for the other series (Yuri on Ice and Utapri)? Nevertheless, congrats on breaking that 10k.

Expected large sales for Touken Ranbu, series didn't click with me, hoping Ufotables series can next year though. Will be interesting to see the sales for that.


No idea what this is but looked it up and that ain't bad sales, it looks interesting as well, especially love the art for the box, it's gorgeous. Hope someone picks it up over here.

I'm glad Tourabu does well but it was expected after all! I'm excited for the second part later this year - eh, next year lol - also really happy to see Spirited Away here!

Favorite characters in Touken Ranbou are the bara material characters, the red-headed one and the one that looks like a slash between Sosouke and kinda Todoroki

Oh? Touken has such good sales, now I have a bit more expecations for it.

Great sales for Tkrb Hanamaru. I expected more tho because the game is so popular In Japan.
