Why is some of the numbers (Like the positions) are missing?
The list here only contains anime-related CDs, seiyuu-related CDs (as they actually voice all the characters!) and also CDs by artists that have done at least one tie-in. However, some the particular CDs in the list may not be related to anime, such as that Arashi CD at #3, that AKB48 CD at #24, etc.
MAL just chose to do a blanket system, rather than doing a complete filter of CDs not related to anime or seiyuu. There is a music BD/DVD/CD sales thread on the Japanese 2ch BBS board that does proper filtering of the weekly CD lists.
Oh I see! That makes sense.

Replies just like Tevens', is very common here on MAL. Some have nothing better to say but to just cheer on whichever artist they were looking for in the list, rather than actually discussing the sales here.

What I think is interesting to note, is that all the Osomatsu-san CDs compared to the ED with many popular male seiyuu have sold less than half. I guess this can be an indicator of just how much the non-event ticket volumes for Osomatsu-san (Vol.3 to 8) will end up selling.
Vol.1 will end up maybe 10K lower than the ED sales, which means the non-event ticket volumes will probably end up some place lower than the sales of the OP there. The drama CD 1 will end up a bit higher since some of the popular male seiyuu are still voicing on there, but not all 6 of course.

It was obvious what they are doing with the cast. A lot of anime are very politically cast without audition nowadays so that they can use specific people for event tickets. Unfortunately this means a lot of shows are getting stuffed with the same casts nowadays in terms of more commercial anime and I get to hear old favorites less and less, even ones that weren't even all that scarce so much as a few years ago. It's incredibly noticeable with male seiyuu especially nut lately I've just wondered if every single popular show has to have Maaya Uchida or Sumire Uesaka and what exactly they bring to most roles in particular besides a pretty face to market. It just sucks that things have gotten this commercial and samey and that producers are so greedy now that they force certain seiyuu on shows over and over just to make a few thousand extra disc sales that aren't even going to carry beyond the first volume or two. That's why it was kind of neat that Macross frontier held auditions and didn't overload too much on the same old people at least as far as I'm aware. They could have easily just loaded up on Uchida, Muse, idolmaster seiyuu and the lIke right out of the gate
I have to agree with you. For someone to be a seiyuu, you have to be visually appealing to fans, have a decent singing voice, perform at live concerts, mingle with fans at fan meeting events, etc. The old days are over where it was OK for a seiyuu to just have a good voice, since we are now in the age where multimedia tie-ins are so common. It's interesting you mentioned Macross Frontier, because it is also one of the pioneering anime franchises to use multimedia tie-ins with its movie and game bundles. It is good though that it held auditions, because that's how it should be done to give up and coming seiyuu more of a chance to get some voice acting roles.
Many anime do seem to cast the same seiyuu, since it is probably safer for their bottom lines, but another anime franchise that had newcomers was Love Live (minus Mimorin and Nanjo) and the upcoming Love Live SunShine (which is pretty much all rookie seiyuu this time around). Many of the KyoAni anime also frequently cast newcomers rather than take the safe option of casting established seiyuu. I think it is a much harder for beginner seiyuu to break through, since what is required of them is now so much higher than what it was in the past.

Too bad, did not reach 100k for a week but still quite massive... nothing less from µ's. This will be their 7th gold disc if I am correct and hopefully Heart to Heart will be their 8th one. Anime ended 2014 but their hype shows no sign of decay. What a wondeful closure <3
This would actually be their 8th gold disc, but 9th overall for Love Live (with BiBi):

I think in terms of anime-related CDs, only K-ON's Houkago Tea Time II album achieved 100K Oricon sales faster at just 4 days of sales, which sold 127,367 in its first week.

Ooops, Thanks for correction. I've fixed it.

I also thought it would sell more than 100k, but it's still a great achievement for a anime related title.

First week sales seems quite disappointing. I thought did one would finally be able to do 100K first week, but this CD only did barely higher than BokuHikari. Oh well, it's still massive sales for an anime-related CD.
Here is the Character Single Top 10 in terms of first week sales as below. Osomatsu-san's ED was there for a brief period, before Love Live knocked it out of the Top 10 to resume the Love Live and K-ON duopoly.
