A crowdfunding campaign was launched on Monday for an anime movie adaptation of the 1969 manga Kaze no You ni. The one-shot drawn by Tetsuya Chiba, best known for Ashita no Joe and Ashita Tenki ni Naare, was originally published in that year's 25th issue of Shoujo Friend magazine.

Kaze no You ni tells the story of Sanpei, the lone survivor of an accident which killed the rest of his beekeeper family, and Chiyo, whom he meets after she is stung by a bee. Sanpei moves into Chiyo's village and begins to work on a tract of land that the villagers have abandoned. However, Sanpei later disappears. As flowers grow on the plot of land, Chiyo waits for Sanpei to return.

Although the campaign has a funding target of 2 million yen, producer Hitomi Toyonaga points out that production costs exceed 20 million yen. Funds from the campaign, which runs through April 22 on the art crowdfunding platform FUNDIY, will be used to enhance the quality of animation. As of writing, 44% of that goal has been reached with a total backing of 896,000 yen.

Kaze no You ni is estimated to premiere at the Shimokitazawa Tollywood theater in Tokyo in May 2016 or later. It will have an approximate running time of 40 minutes. Supporters who contribute 10,000 yen or more to the campaign will receive a DVD copy of the movie, expected to be delivered in August.

Why would you want a good source material be butchered in another medium? It's fine as it is and would most definitely require top-notch directing, not budget like you're suggesting.
lol..ofcours I dont want a butchered adaptation..but you know what..? fuck it, I care more about the LN sales that will increase even if the adaptation was trash..

Since the novel already finished, it will never get a anime adaption.

Even more with the fact even a manga adaption HaruMari has.

LOL Joe Yabuki and Nishi as kids? There is a clone of Sachi too.

...and then suddenly this turns into Boxing,,,

It's by the same mangaka as Ashita no Joe, so the character designs are bound to be familiar.

You get genga at 20000円, huh? Not bad.

first time i heard about that crowd funding site called fundiy, it combines fund and DIY (do it yourself), thats noice

good luck to them

for a movie thats cheap though, 20 million yen only cost less than 200,000 dollars so thats really a cheaply made anime
Considering how Kickstarters are meant to be use, those ¥20M aren't meant to be the budget for the movie.
Actually, it says so right in the OP lol.
I doubt they'd have all the cast and stuff all ready if they weren't going forward with it anyway if the backing flopped.
¥10,000 for just a DVD is pretty costly though.
