Sorry I'm really confused. Does this means last week's sale was only a little over1k? I find that hard to believe...

I've just tried to look whether it ever made the Top 500 around July when the anime started airing and I couldn't find anything.
(I'm talking about Shosekiranking, using the Japanese name for U&T: うしおととら).
It actually did rank in the top 500 in Shosekiranking.

The sales aren't really as good as Parasyte but that's to be expected since Parasyte had a live action movie along with the anime which gave it much more exposure and helped its sales in the long run.
With that being said, I'm not really sure Mappa or U&T's publisher were expecting it to have a boost though. With Parasyte, they (Madhouse and Afternoon) most definitely did, since they even reprinted the whole saga in 2014, prior to the anime.
Actually If we're talking about the anime only then U&T was more successful than Parasyte. The BD sales are a good indication for that.
V1 830 2015/03/18 Fall Kiseijuu Sei no Kakuritsu
V2 847 2015/07/22 Fall Kiseijuu Sei no Kakuritsu
V1 3,136 2015/09/30 Summer Ushio to Tora
V2 2,827 2015/10/28 Summer Ushio to Tora
V3 2,560 2015/11/25 Summer Ushio to Tora
V4 2,629 2015/12/23 Summer Ushio to Tora
(9 more volumes that have yet to release)
so the manga boost is there but it's a small one. Kinda bummed since I've heard good things about U&T being a nice old school shonen.
parasyte's each box costs like 200+$. I expect U&T's average will be around 2k. Not that bad.

Of course they wanted a boost, but I guess madhouse 2.0 aka mappa aren't good in marketing.
The founder burned madhouse into bankruptcy and now is about to do the same to mappa XD

Does anyone know how much of an anime boost Ushio & Tora recieved? Parasyte managed 1-1.5 million so I'm interested in knowing how well U&T did.

Wakakozake S2 is currently airing... it is full length... and it is live action drama! What? Yes, live action drama but it's good! Seeing her eat actual food in live action makes me even hungrier than the anime. Usually I much prefer anime to live action adaptations but for food porn, it works well.
There's a live action series? Didn't know that, would certainly be interested in watching that. Will have to go and look for it. Cheers.

It also never appeared in the Weekly Top 10 ranking so I guess it really didn't have much of a boost if at all. Ushio to Tora's manga was not as popular as Parasyte's in the 90s and its anime wasn't as popular as Parasyte's anime last year so this is not really surprising.

Fab to see both of these selling so well. Would love second seasons of both. Hope someone over here releases the live action movie of the latter. That and licensing both manga.

Parasyte had the boost due to the movie.
the series wasnt ranking weekly in charts around the movie time afaik, so I am more inclined to say that it piled up weekly. Movie promotion certainly helped. Plus the series also aired on the psudo noitamina NTV-madhouse block so.... I'm just saying not to discredit the anime.

This is really low for the standard it set with it's previous 3 volumes...
3. 167,127 *,337,516 Sakamoto desu ga? Vol.4
Also top 10 series....
01) Kingdom (473 09)
02) Magi – The Labyrinth of Magic (276 619)
03) Sakamoto – Pour vous Servir! (184 332)
04) Fairy Tail (155 436)
05) Erased (147 797)
06) One Piece (109 680)
07) Chihayafuru (98 899)
08) Giant Killing (91 571)
09) Wakako Zake (72 379)
10) P to Jk (71 949)
So Kingdom is still selling 80k in backlog sales. Considering it dropped to like 100k before the start of the new Oricon year it's still holding quite strong.

650k thats quite nice and its probably gonna reach 700k i really wonder why they made 2nd season with only 12episodes since its quite a good anime and also they kinda cut it off befor the good stuff started to happen >_< So yeh would really like to see the rest of it in anime some day. Cuz as said just doesnt make any sense to me with such good manga sales....
Probably the producers concluded that a new season of the anime do not would bring a significant increase in sales, which were already high.
maybe ye it would have only a small increase but due the big fanbase i think the BD discs would also sell pretty good and give them some nice profit.. :/
