New TV Anime Project by Hiroyuki Asada to Premiere in 2016

A new TV anime project with character designs by Hiroyuki Asada will premiere in 2016, according to a wraparound jacket band found on the final volume of Tegami Bachi. The jacket band shows a preview of some of the character designs, but the new series remains unnamed at the moment. More information will be available at a later date.

Hiroyuki Asada is the original creator of Tegami Bachi (Letter Bee). It was first serialized in the September 2006 issue of Monthly Shounen Jump, but after ten chapters, the series was moved to Jump SQ. The series also received various anime adaptations, as well as a drama CD in 2009.

Not sure what you're going "what?" for but Asada started "I'll" back in the 90s. It's about middle school basketball rivals ending up in the same high school and all (think Haikyuu). It ran till 2004 but apart from a two episode ova which was completely pulled out of the main storyline, it's never had an adaptation.

The art of the kid on the left of the wrap reminded me of one of its lead boys, that's all.

I still wish his basketball manga would get a shot at an actual full anime series, but I guess it's too old (and not known enough) for that to ever happen. The OVA was pretty bad :/

Pierrot is the owner of the license, did the other 2 seasons. And both seasons are well adapted, the third season is to adapt the last chapters of the manga which ended last year.

These news actually made me very happy. I love Tegami Bachi. I haven't read the manga yet but loving his artstyle a lot. Hope this will be something interesting to watch. Looking bunch forward to it.

-but I should stop expecting that an anime will be good just because a certain mangaka is designing characters for it
