The official website of the crowd-funded sci-fi anime Under the Dog announced that Haruka Takahashi and Naomi Oozora will join the cast as Sayuri Hyuuga and Estella, respectively. The new cast members were decided in a fan vote by backers of the project. A new video released on the site also announced that backers of the anime project will be able to view the episode in May 2016. The cast list includes previously announced cast members.

Cast
Anthea Kallenberg: Asami Seto (Chihayafuru)
Hana Togetsu: Rumi Ookubo (Acchi Kocchi (TV))
Shunichi Nanase: Kouki Uchiyama (Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda.)
Sayuri Hyuuga: Haruka Takahashi (Rio: Rainbow Gate!)
Estella: Naomi Oozora (Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha)

The anime project raised a total of $878,028 USD during its Kickstarter campaign in September 2014, successfully reaching its goal of $580,000 USD. The production, which was originally led by Hiroaki Yusa at Creative Intelligence Art, will be led by Kinema Citrus, and Masahiro Ando will direct the series.

Why bother making a 26 episode series and risk losing a ton of money when you can make a short OVA and pocket all the kickstarter money?

A 26 episode series is much more expensive than 800k. Hell, Ghibli pushed like 50m into some of their movies.... I think animation-wise a 26 ep series for 800k would have been utter crap.

Yh I think so too though, I'm no expert of course but I think this is a test run. See how well its received and how much money they make off of it and then release a full season if it does well.

Pretty much, it's not like its an adaption of a VN / Manga backing it up, getting more people involved into watching a show like this etc.

no i have no hype for this because the management is utter shit.

they had many offers to a full length 26 episode series with complete control of the project but they went with giving us 1 ova for 800k. thats some absolute bull shit.

IIRC they declined those offers because of the budget limitation that would come with the 26 eps show. Ando said that he and the studio wouldn't be able to create a satisfying anime because the animation would suck.

Anyway, I'm pretty excited about this, even though it's only an OVA we're definitely in for some eye candy :3

I see Death Parade being one of the anime that the first 3 VA's have worked on.
This should be good :) - Long time fan since it was announced on kickstarter.

This is going to be amazing ... I probably shouldnt hype myself up as much but this is going to be one hell of an OVA.

Lol most of the people bitching probably aren't even backers.

As a backer myself, I'm surprised with the seiyuu picks. I think they did a good job with that.

Fuck you. Give that money to a proper 2D Berserk or Ajin adaptation.

Shut the fuck up. Berserk gets a new project every few years. Aijin is getting a movie trilogy and a TV show airing in January. Fucking dipshit.

How long is this OVA? It better be at least an hour. Almost 1 million USD for a single episode is fucking ridiculous.

Really, really looking forward this - have been following it for a few months now. Hopefully this OVA does really well so we can get something of more length.
