So how big are French manga market compare to the US manga market? Bigger than the US by a lot. Or just a small margin? How many total manga sold in France compare to the US each year?
Well.
An early released Naruto volume in France sells about 133k in a year (in 2008, it's now like 90k), while it sells 28k in a year in the US. I would say France is bigger than US by a lot, it's also a lot more diverse, and it's regarded as the second biggest manga market after Japan, from what I read.
There have been reports that manga sales were in decline but that was before Attack on Titan popularity iirc.

Using google translate,it appears that the ranking are official.Does anyone know other country besides French,USA and Japan that does it?
@Zapredon
I remember Tsudecimo's sharing French market sales a few weeks ago on the NY times thread.

What are the top selling manga in France during 2014? I assume tsudecimo and Agafin are French since you two seems familiar with what popular in France?
Nah, I'm from Sudan as shown in my profile, don't know about Agafin.
I just know how to search for manga sales.
I don't know, since I can't find a total sales per year, only per month, but it's probably Attack on Titan, Naruto, One Piece, Fairy Tail at the top ones

Tsudecimo country speaks both French and english IIRC.
wut lol
No, it was an English colony until 1956. But English is not the main language, thought it's taught in school after the 6th grade. My native language is Arabic.

I guess that would make sense, but it's early like you said. I searched for it's manga sales in France using ''Les ventes de Manga'', but didn't find anything.

The almighty volume 1 stays strong it seems. Does anyone know how much it has sold by now?

Only found sales in 2013. But reading some articles, that volume sold a lot more during 2014, than 2013, so it's probably a 100k by now.
Thanks. Well, that's huge. According to Wikipedia, it had overall sales of 660,000 in January 2014. Since it sold much more in 2014 (due to the fact that it had a whole year rather than just half as well as the dub), I'm willing to bet it has far surpassed 1 million copies sold and is moving towards 2 million.
As suspected,Akame ga Kill is more popular in west.
By what logic?
By ranking it's first ever released volume at number one in the US? which is probably like 1k copies sold.
A/ France is the biggest manga market in the west
B/ AgK sales no matter how relatively small they are in Japan, are still more than the west
He most likely means that it is more popular in America than Japan relatively to the respective popularity of the manga industry in each country. Well, this is just the first volome so nothing is sure, but I'm willing to bet that there's some truth in that. Then again, it did get a considerable boost in Japan as well. I remember it selling like 25k in its first week before the anime. The last volume released sold 135k in its first week.
France is the biggest market but US is second though. Do you know how well it doesin France? I can't find it in any chart so its probably not as popular there.

Doesn't matter because manga in general are not popular in west compare to in Japan so it expected that it will sell less than the one in Japan. Still, among westerner manga fans or at least US fans,AgK is definitely popular more so than among Japanese manga fans. My point is convert it to percentage.

Lol AgK number 1.
Just shows the west appreciates gore more than the Japanese. I'm sure it'll stay in top ten for another 3 weeks or so.
Not really.
The Japanese sales are still more, even if they are relatively not high. This just the first English release for the series.

does these sales only come from new york?
No. It's a bunch of different retailers around the US, including Amazon and wholesalers. I picked up my copy because I was excited to start a new manga after enjoying the anime.
