NY Times Manga Best Seller List for the Week Ending April 18, 2009 (Released April 24, 2009)

Graphic Books Best Seller List (Manga) for the Week Ending 18 April 2009
This week has the usual Naruto volumes grouping up in the higher ranks, with the two volumes, Vampire Knight, Vol. 6, and Fruits Basket Vol. 22 struggling to stay on the list. At the same time a new title, Chibi Vampire Vol. 13 arrives on the list landing on pos #7. Gantz from previous list has moved out of the top 10 list.

Naruto is popular because it's advertised like craaaaaaazy here. It's probably something everyone knows about, though not by name. It's okay, but not "OMG EPIC MUST BUY EVERY VOLUME" status. I'm guessing the people who are currently buying all these new volumes of Naruto have never even heard of scanlations and such.

@the_seventh_l it's because Naruto sucks ass(or is only a 4 in a scale of 1 to 10)n it's wild popularly is somewhat dumbfounding to me. vis really knows how to market shit to kids i guess. the part that get's me is the really great manga does not ever make the top 15.

At some point everyone will buy up all the current volumes of Naruto and other things can make it onto the list. Things like Fruits Basket, Chibi Vampire, and Vampire Knight? Oh boy!
