a) that's just one week of sales
b) it's not the most recent sales figures
c) MAL has threads for this
right?
Mar 21, 2014 7:52 AM by kuuderes_shadow
I guess like JAVs, these LNs are just mostly mass-produced "junk food"
Not sure that this applies there. This is after all, from the same author as Kino no Tabi.
Also well, we don't have a synopsis on MAL for this title, so I guess it's all good that we don't need one right ? :p

Attack on titan didn't make it because it's newest volume is still not released.
Release date : April 9, 2014
Oh that's how it works... Attack on titan should have been a weekly manga, it would have sold more. I just hope it makes the top 10.

Now, even if HxH came back regularly, it doesn't represent absolutely any competition for OP.
If togashi came back immediately and consistently released volumes at a similar rate to OP (this is roughly equivalent to lotto percentages), it still wouldnt be a threat in the short term. However this would have a ripple effect of extending the anime indefinitely and putting it back in an ideal spot to hit up the top 10 rankings every week like it used to back in 2011/2012 when the manga was ongoing. Eventually after a year or two of consistency the gap would be narrowed, and HxH would be 2nd to OP. It would atleast be able to reclaim its 700k first weeks, if not even beat its own numbers, and would present some kind of challenge at the top of the Shonen Battle Manga War.
Well from my point of view, if Togashi went back to his work ethic form 1998-2002 (that is, when he actually worked) and started releasing at least 3 or 4 volumes per year, it obviously would increase the total manga sales. Right now is Shueisha's eighth best-selling manga series, but if Togashi actually cared for the fans and worked his ass off for the next 10 years or so, it could easily enter in the Top 5. However, even if Togashi would did this right now, the anime is still going to end in August-September of this year, because is simply to close to the manga and consumes too many chapter with each episode (approximately 3 chapters of the manga for every episode of the anime). So, that will eliminate the anime boost for a at least 3 or more years. I still think it lost his chance to be a real threat to One Piece supremacy, but it will definitely be one to Naruto for example. Or every other series that is not OP, really.
i know that HxH is huge in Japan. More huge than Shingeki no Kyojin, obviously. Nobody cuetions that. But it could have been bigger, if it wasn't by Togashi's laziness.
Yes most of us who have been following anime/manga since last millenium realize in the grand scheme of things how HxH is much bigger than Snk. However you would be surprised how many ignorant SnK fans think they are in the same league. They are blinded by it having reached its Peak and the huge anime boost it got, and think that a good year or two puts it in the same discussion as the 2 last remaining Powerhouses from last Millenium. There is no reasoning with them, they will have to learn the hardway in a couple years when SnK meets its demise. Ultimately 10 years down the line when Op and HxH are still around and Dominating, and SnK is just a fleeting memory, they will realize the folly of their ways.
Ofcourse Togashi is the biggest threat to HxH, he has done everything to suppress its potential which was much greater if he would have been half the Mangaka Eiichiro Oda is in terms of consistent releases and work ethic. If by some miracle he can get his act together then HxH has a chance to be the threatening competition to OP that it should have been.
I really don't think SnK is gonna have a very dramatic drop in sales in the recent years. After all remenber that is monthly manga, so is only able to publish 2 or maybe 3 volumes per year, at most. So, all the fans ,in Jpan and worldwide, will focus in those few volumes per year, and the sales will be stable. I agree in that it has reached his peek in sales, and that people that put it in the same league as long-runners like OP, HxH or Naruto are in heavy drugs. It belongs in the same category as Berserk for example. It will have steady year sales, helped out by the fact that the second season of the anime is most probably going to come out in 2015-2016. But it will never in this universe reach the numbers of Shueisha's biggest hits, like some delusional fans says. Besides, it has been confirmed that it's going to end in volume 20, so that leaves 4 years at most of life to the manga. Like i said, heavy drugs.
And yeah, fuck Togashi.

Yes, if Togashi would have been a responsible person and constantly worked on his manga instead of playing Dragon Quest, Hunter x Hunter may have been a strong opponent for One Piece in the yearly rankings. But Togashi is a troll, so he didn't do that.
Yes you are right, thats why we HxH Fans lament the situation and wish it were different, but alas Togashi gives us almost no hope for a recovery.

How I wish Hunter x Hunter would return in Shonen Jump, so One Piece has some competition. Damn you, Togashi! :'(
Even if HxH came back, there will be no competition for OP. For other series? Yes, sure. But for OP? Nah, never.
We have this conversation on the Weekly updates all the time. Most of us Agree that only HxH could put up some level of competition to OP. They have been in the same Solar System since last Millenium, while the rest are at best part of the same Galaxy. If HxH Mangaka Togashi wasn't the laziest bastard ever and would have been consistent with releases and no endless ever present Hiatus, then HxH would have been the only publication that had a chance of outright dethroning OP occasionally. As is its straight up impossible for it to be dethroned, and 1 year wonders like Shingeki won't change that (as they have begun their inevitable decline).
