KyoAni Produces K-ON!

According to Newtype magazine March issue, the production studio of "K-ON!" was announced to be Kyoto Animation. It will be aired from April.

Director: Yamada Naoko (One of the assistant directors of "Lucky ☆ Star OVA", episode director of "Clannad ~After Story~" Ep 3, 10 ,16)
Series Organizer: Yoshida Reiko ("Kurokami", "Wagaya no Oinari-sama.")
Character Designer: Horiguchi Yukiko ("Lucky ☆ Star")

Hirasawa Yui: Toyosaki Aki
Akiyama Mio: Hikasa Youko (Negishi Minamo in "Sketchbook ~full color'S~")
Tainaka Ritsu: Satou Satomi
Kotobuki Tsumugi: Kotobuki Minako
Yamanaka Sawako: Sanada Asami
Manabe Nodoka: Todo Chika (Sophia Florence in "Aquarian Age Alternative" game)

I'll probably check this out, even if the art looks a bit too Lucky Star-ish for my tastes.

I thought the idea was somewhat similar to Haruhi's ENOZ rock band. It's going to be awesome!!!

Look at the art, I can't afford to miss this one. Hmm this will be my first time to watch a music-genre anime.

The characters look like a cross between Lucky Star characters and Haruhi characters, more on the LS blobby side though.
