So happy for Symphogear G! Symphogear Strikers when? That is the comparison being made. Not sure what they'll do in a sequel but I'm sure they'll think of something.

And so happy for LoveLive! Can't wait for next month's 6th single + OVA and Alpacca handbag...

^ I just knew Symphogear had it in itself to double its sales from S1 v1! Very nice storefront effect as expected, lol.

I am also happy about Love Live!'s big 2nd week and KinMosa reaching 7k.

Sorry for the bumping as I have new info to update.

Here is the quick result of this week BD sales ranking. The full details of everything will be posted in a new thread later.

The key thing is SymphogearG v1 sold 9829 BD + 1153 DVD = 10,982 !!!
As comparsion vol.1 of season 1 sold 4454 in the first week.

And WataMote is not ranked in the preliminary list released today.

^ Interesting, Takigaki Ayahi's (following the convention of "Webber Andrew Lloyd" with surname coming first) character is supposed to be a foreigner so she singing English songs should be expected X-D

Anyway, just counting the 10 singles released and the total sales are >250,000 according to Oricon. Very well done. And I can imagine the OST CD must be good too.
(by comparison, total sales of all Free! singles is about 200,000)

And so we are going to see 2nd week number even on the preliminary list coming out later today for Shingeki, Love Live, KinMosa and JoJo (and perhaps a few others). Amazing.

Have I said "Go Symphogear!!!" too many times already? My copy should arrive today!

And a funny thing, the Symphogear G ED CD has a cover of Memory by Webber Andrew Lloyd (sic) that makes me want to watch Cats now LOL! Ayahi Takagaki's English singing is really well done! Strange choice for a 3rd single on the album but it is nice so I'm not complaining. The anime 'size' ED which also has the special anime-only intro is awesome too, so glad they included that instead of a karaoke version.

And it's here! And the OST CD1 is worth the price alone, OMG, so good! This really is a musical anime perhaps more than it is an anime with a soundtrack!

I hope so too but the trouble is that there isn't much else coming out this week so we don't have much with which to compare. I'd love to see 10K but matching the first season's 5K number would also be pretty good. I agree the season is much better than the first one so I'd love to see an increase but avoiding the usual season 2 drop would be good for a start.

And IS2 episode 1 sure feels like an OVA. Wonder if they ran out of time to make episode 1 and switched it at the last minute???

On the other hand, I think in Japan even the BD/DVD box does not cram the discs as full as the R1 release (like the example of Moretsu you gave). Somehow I prefer the Japanese way.... but I agree that for a 2-cour anime it is bad idea to put only 2 episode per disc, though I can understand why Monogatari SS is done that way as they have to keep the arcs separate - so either they have to cram everything into one disc, which is very unlikely, or do it in the present way of 2 discs per arc.

I'm not saying I want R1 style. The Chihayafuru 2 boxes have 4 discs each with 3 episodes/disc (4 for the disc with the episode 16 recap) which still gives you the best quality images and sound. Putting 13 episodes on one disc is a compromise for sure.

Monogatari SS is somewhat excusable. They should put the recap episodes on them too, throw us a bone! Bakemonogatari somehow gave us hope with 6 discs and 15 episodes and Nise 5 discs for 11 episodes (not six discs like Silver Spoon).

Silver Spoon, 6 discs for 11 episodes in cour 1 is just too much... not sure if that has anything to do with the lowish sales figures.

And Mouretsu Space Pirates put 4 episodes per disc for the last 6 discs, disc 1 had 2 episodes and a couple hours of event footage; 26 episodes on 7 discs!

Hear that Monogatari SS 25 episodes on 12 discs and Gin no Saji/Silver Spoon 22 episodes on 12 discs, Aniplex?!?!?!

In fact most of the time the full capacity of the DVD/BD is not used for those anime release LOL I am sure they can cram 4 episodes in one DVD and it still leave enough space for the non-credit OP/ED, PVs and CMs X-D

The DVD is listed as 70 minutes long so that is enough time for 40 minute extended version, 24 minute regular version, non-credit ED, PV and CM.

Also comes with event ticket, character song CD "Beautiful Sky Houki Solo Version", and a 28 page booklet! If that doesn't boost a cheap volume 1, I don't know what will!!!

^^ OK, if DVD's description has changed, I guess it is indeed the case then. So a OVA is turned into a sort of Director's Cut (or shall we call it Studio's Cut?) of ep.1.... Very interesting.

From the contents in your quote, it seems that they are going to put both the TV broadcast version and the "long vacation edition" of ep.1 in the disc. Must be a new and innovative way to boost sales of vol.1 !!

^^^ Amazon has now changed the October 30th DVD edition to say Volume 1 (Long Vacation Edition), with episode 1 but the Bluray is still just called "Long Vacation" and the description hasn't changed to say episode 1 yet but it does for the DVD:

Interesting. It is confusing because Amazon does not say it will be from episode 1. Even the official website http://www.tbs.co.jp/anime/is2/disc/ does not say it has all the footage from the aired episode 1. But if it is indeed episode 1 then it explains why the title says "Long Vacation EDITION". So there won't be anything from IS released in November then.

Now I wonder what I should put for 2013 Fall Anime Volume 1 Preliminary Ranking. Amazon Stalker decides to put Vol.2 instead in their list but I have not yet decided.

Just look at second post:

That's pretty close, 1000 more copies to go, I guess.

Pretty much it will sell 10K in total, but we may not see reaching it in rankings. This type of shows and especially second seasons are extremely front-loaded and sells sometimes more than 90% of total in first week. Next week it will drop form DVD list, but because of small thresholds it my rank next few weeks on BD chart.
