Anime 'Free!' to Include Unaired Short Anime in Volume 1 of BD and DVD

According to the official site, a short anime titled "FrFr! ~Free! short movie~ ①" will be included as Tokuten animation in Volume 1 of the Free! BD and DVD. The official site describes episodes that are not mentioned in the main series. The titles for the short anime are "Makoto no Nayami! (Makoto's Worries)" and "Buin Bosshuu! (Recruitment of the Club Members)". The contents of Volume 2 and beyond haven't announced, so how many more of these short anime will be included (since Volume 1 has "①") is not yet known.

The title of the first short intrigues me, reading into the novel and some of the character's backstories, Makoto is probably the one with the most baggage, who gets impacted the hardest through events that happened in their childhood. I'm not sure how deep, if at all, into stuff they're going to go with this short but "Makoto's Worries" is indeed intriguing.

(It could just be him mothering Haru and/or Nagisa some more as well, who knows)

Judging by jmal/symbv's posts, these shorts don't really have much to do with the rise in rankings which is good.

Sales have been pretty damn good since ep 4 aired. It's amazing how much of a boost that ep gave. I just hope it can maintain it until ep 5 airs in two weeks.

It would be amazing if ep 5 gave it the push it needed to get in the top 10 in amazon and stay there till release, much like GnP. One can dream :P

Anyway, I'm excited for the short about 'Makoto's Worries'. I want to see best boy fretting over stuff. As long as it isn't too serious, I don't think I could handle a very serious and worried Makoto.

The anti-KyoAni base were really pro-Free! when it was first announced (Date was acting rather happy about it). Don't know about now.

True, but it was still a feat of "shot up the ranking" it did and it was noticeable too -- so revelation of those extra information was equivalent to the airing of a new episode, meaning the impact is not insignificant. But of course I do agree that the heavy lifting was done by ep.4. Absolutely no objection regarding that.

Un-aired short was listed when the release was first solicited on June 26th. Just because someone reported it recently in English doesn't mean it wasn't reported in Japan earlier. What has been revealed over the past week are the cover art, sample designs, and titles for the shorts.

In fact a lot of people credited the shot up in ranking because of the cover art, designs and the title for the shorts (and later pushed even higher by the airing of ep.4).
