Yes, I understand. And you include 4 charts so I really do appreciate your work. I am just a dirty cut and paster.

And you're right, this is the manga thread. Sorry for the mess. I should really be reading books rather than posting but I get excited on Tuesday mornings...

Darkness seems good. And why that I don't surprised finding SAO at top?

^ You seem to post to the wrong thread. Why not just wait for me to start the new thread? At least use the BD thread if you really want to let out the news quick...

How do people still avoid reading Ahiru no Sora ?? Come on , its been ranked among the top highest on the manga charts for like months. Yet no one on MAL talks about it smh (even though i just picked it up like 4 weeks ago lol)
Is it because its basketball?
It needs to be animated , but then again it could be ruined since its 400+ chapters
it would have to be a long running series

Real life responsibilities are awful, it's less avoidance and more "Oh right I've got bills now".

Lots of things are underrated though, not like this would be the first thing to fly under the radar.

Popular manga on this site and probably in the west as a whole tend to be ones that:
a) have an anime adaptation
and/or
b) have an english language release

Ahiru no sora has neither.

On top of that, sport and game related series often have an additional disadvantage in that people will rarely start reading them if they aren't interested in the game/sport covered by the series. I probably wouldn't pick up anything basketball related as I have no interest in the sport whatsoever.

Rounding off my point, as to not get too off-topic, is Date A Live tagged the way it is because the source material is marketed a certain way or is there another issue at play here?
As far as I know (but I could be wrong), any member of MAL could create an entry in MAL database and they are constantly reviewed by the DB Mods. But details like tags can easily escape attention because mods are not going to know every single LN/manga/anime out there to tell which tags should go there. If you think some tags should be changed/added, you are advised to post to the Manga DB modification thread here or the Anime DB modification thread here.

Thank you very much.

Anime booster effect !!!

That's good to see because Date A Live is one show that I am really looking forward to this season.

I read a bit of the manga and from what I remember it was funny. However, Date A Live (anime + manga + light novel) does not have comedy in its tags. The light novel recommendation for Date A Live says "like High School DxD but lighter" and I, after reading some of the manga, would agree with that description.

Of course, High School DxD is tagged as a comedy. It is a very funny show and I agree with that decision. However, if Date A Live is lighter than High School DxD, then it probably should tagged as a comedy.

Rounding off my point, as to not get too off-topic, is Date A Live tagged the way it is because the source material is marketed a certain way or is there another issue at play here?

Glad to see Chihayafuru up there, I guess the anime is helping the sales.

yep, anime boost! Date A Live episode 1 wasn't the best but it was ok.
What about OreGairu or HenNeko? I haven't watched them yet but I'm just curious.

First week sales of HenNeko vol.5 - 29k
First week sales of HenNeko vol.6 - 14k

Hmm..... Well HenNeko vol.6 is published on 22nd, and the data here covers only up to 24th... Perhaps it is best to check the total sales after 2nd week (vol.5 reached 42.5k) for a better picture.

On the other hand,

First week sales of OreGairu vol.4 - 22k (limited edtion + standard edition)
First week sales of OreGairu vol.5 - 30k

Damn, are sales of Beelzebub really this bad?

190,209 Beelzebub Vol.16

163,858 Beelzebub Vol.18
162,549 Beelzebub Vol.19

These are the sales numbers before dropping of the chart. It seems like vol 18 and 19 did not do very well. With vol 20 it seems it's making a slight comeback.

All I really care about. Second seasons when for Skip Beat! and Gakuen Alice?
While I am at it, proper season when for Hayate?

A second season for Skip Beat would be too good to be true I'm afraid :/
