Wow KuroBasu seems doing great japan really loves sport manga. Also this might be because second season of anime is going to start soon. Psycho Pass I am really happy that manga is selling also really well. Anime also seems interesting haven't yet watched it. Great sales hope Psycho Pass will rank better in next rankings.

Sorry I made a mistake here. It is the announcement of a 2nd season that came less than 3 months after the end of 2nd season, not the start of broadcast of 2nd season itself. While 2nd season was indeed aired in spring 2012 the announcement was made way back in June 2011 (the end of 1st season was aired at the end of March 2011)

One thing we need to be careful is that KZD is one of the earliest example of "split season" where the 2nd season started merely 3 months after the end of the 1st season, so it is also possible that the decision of a 2nd season had been made even before the production learned how well the discs sold, although they should be able to see the boost to the LN sales as it happened right at the beginning of 1st season (while the disc of the anime went on sale only near the end of the season). It is entirely possible that the same can happen to Mondaiji too.

That's really good news because I like the show a lot. If you know, how do the projected light novel and disc sales stack up to where Kore Wa Zombie was at this point in its airing?
I don't have data for the boost of sales the anime to Koreha Zombie Desuka LN but I remember reading the boost was considerable. For disc sales, KZD actually performed not too miserably, selling >4k for vol.1 and around 3k for later volumes. Mondaiji probably will do less well.

Because I was reading another forum and it seems like the disc sales are brutal for this show, basically even 4,000 total sales seems unlikely and that seems to be the minimum for getting a second season or at least that's what Zombie sold the first season if memory serves correctly.
The sales projection is put at merely at 1.5k or so for vol.1 and it indeed looks brutal. However, 4k is a very rough estimate for a qualifying line for a 2nd season and thus we need to be careful not to use it as the only criterion to judge the success of an anime. Titles with apparently poor disc sales can still get a 2nd season because of good sales for its original manga/novel/game or its merchandise. This is what happens to series like Kami nomizo shiru Sekai or Milky Holmes, for example.

And even for Koreha Zombie Desuka, only vol.1 has over 4,000 disc sales while all the later volumes sold fewer than 3,500 or even 3,000 copies. Well from what I understand, Mondaiji's DVD and Blu-Ray pre-order sales are lackluster to say the least. Maybe a boost in light novel sales could help deliver a second season, the same situation we saw with Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka.
BD/DVD sales for Mondaiji are likely to be not good, but given the fact that it is published by the same publisher as Koreha Zombie Desuka, which got a 2nd season despite poor sales of BD/DVD, I believe a 2nd season for Mondaiji is quite likely. It is perhaps also why the anime adaptation is in on haste to adapt every volume in one go, and restrict the number of episodes to 10, just enough for adaptation of the first 2 volumes of the LN.
