DB/Z are my fav' anime's ever!
The manga is my fav' manga ever!
It's the reason I like anime and manga - years later, it's still of great quality.
It's rare that an anime production company and glorified fanfic' authors create something of great quality.
I have read this manga - it's not much different from any other 'shounen' filler - which I'm now convinced are all made by the same people. I better add, from a young age, I was never a massive fan of the Dragonball/Z movies (some are great) or the Garlic Jr saga - this was long before I even knew they weren't the authors material - I'm open to fillers being great, but many have dissapointed me.
Still, I understand why this is being done...
This series, 16 years after ending, still sells well - it's a certian cash injection, so I hope people enjoy it.

Screw this and animate the Buu saga.
Ya know what...that would be pretty awesome if they'd did that for us. Hell I'd prefer the Buu saga over this spin-off. :/
I wouldn't. Me no want moar Kai trash.

why stop something that works... we all know how terrible naruto and bleach are, but of course they'll continue that garbage because it simply works.
But even Dragon Ball fans hated GT, and the franchise has been next to forgotten over the last couple years.
I doubt it "works" anymore.

"a spin-off scenario taking place after the events of the TV special Dragon Ball Z: Bardock - The Father of Goku, in which Bardock survives after his confrontation against Frieza and turns into a Super Saiyan"
What?
While I love Dragon Ball this just sounds a bit...
Wow that is messed up
That does sound like a bad fanfiction as mentioned. As a diehard DB/Z fan, Bardock is awesome, bad ass, and died in an unquestionably epic manner. This "new idea" just ruins it. I mean, trying to change what happened originally about 2 decades ago is just weird. I'd like to see Akira Toriyama's thoughts on this. :(
Bardock doesn't even have enough training to be a Super Saiyan like his kick ass son and grandson (referring to Gohan).
It's like that Fushigi Yuugi Eikoden. :( :(
Anyway, this proves that success is NOT always a good outcome. People and ideas alike can become victims of it.
To be fair though, it is possible that Bardock would have become one if he continued to do what he was doing. He was progressing pretty god damn fast compared to the usual saiyan....by the time he died, he was already pass a power level of 10,000 I believe, which pretty much put him in Vegeta and Nappa's league during the saiyan arc. So if he didn't die, I could see him eventually getting it.

Love it or hate it, dragonballz is the top dog of anime, there wouldn't be anime like we have today if it wasn't for it, Dragonballz is the mario, mickey mouse of Anime...
I agree. Hell, the Shounen Jump big 3 would NOT exist if not DB/Z (and Yu Yu Hakusho). Still, the synopsis made me go "WTF?"
