According to an interview on Ultra Jump Egg, anime director Yamamoto Yutaka
said he plans to use the 2011 Tohoku earthquake as a subject of his next anime work. He thought that the current trend of anime tends to incline toward escapism but he would like to commit himself on the issue of the real life. "I think we won't be able to express our opinions rooted in the reality without integrating the disaster into anime and learning the world from different point of views. I know it's a delicate topic but I believe making an anime on the earthquake will be a breakthrough for myself and for the anime industry".
He watched Kokurikozaka Kara
last July and regained interest in anime.
