And there are sites for those things. MAL is not those sites. MAL caters primarily to anime fans and fans of closely related phenomena.

anison", a portmanteau of "animation" and "song", or "anime song".

I really hope you don't think I didn't know this.

i woould not call Oragae range , HaMC Grant grow B'z the High Lows ETC ETC as Anison Artists

Neither would I, and note that I never said all songs with a connection to anime are considered strictly "anisong". That's why when I talk about single sales, I always draw a distinction between stuff that's selling purely on anisong merits, and stuff that's selling primarily because the artist is popular in the mainstream. Houkago Tea Time's sales success may utterly pale in comparison to AKB48 but for anisong it's phenomenal.

But people want to know both about anisongs and about songs that are played in anime, even if they're from mainstream artists. They are both of interest, and that's the point of this thread. What is not on topic is non-anisong music that has no connection to anime. We don't go listing live action Japanese TV dramas for BDs and DVDs, now do we? Or even non-Japanese animation, e.g. Disney.

These threads were never intended to be full regurgitations of the Oricon sales rankings. If that's what you want, you're in the wrong place. There are plenty of other places where you can go get that, and certainly you wouldn't need to rely on an English-language anime forum for it. What's posted here is what interests its users. End of story.

side sote the biggest selling single in chart history in Japan is an anison

side note 2
Sales charts of LD Dvds and Video midia have always split the Sales charts between anime and opther stuff

side note 3 i sense there a lot of Aidoru Otaku here coinserding how many people now bash Hirano Aya but thay loved her before this sex acandal thing
just like In japan Idol c Clutre is very off to non japanese

Fucking hell dude, even if English is not your first language the above is just absolutely painful to read. If you want to hang out on an English language messageboard at least spell-check or something. Firefox has underlined nearly half the words. I wouldn't post on a Japanese messageboard if half my post would be gibberish.

Back on topic, songs that are connected to (OP, ED, Insert, BGM) anime are relevant. Songs released by vocalists who do seiyuu work are also of interest to many here, as well as, say, Vocaloid. Jpop completely unrelated to anime or otaku fandom is totally off topic. You're nitpicking for the sake of nitpicking, as usual. Get over it.

i nit pick so people get correct infomation
Otakuism is not only anime based yiu get Idol Otaku Train otaku and loads of Other types of Otaku

Vocaioid fanodm and anime fandom should be held apart for thay are tottaly different things and famdoms

anison", a portmanteau of "animation" and "song", or "anime song".
There are also vocalists who have dedicated most of their careers to the performance of theme songs, including Ichirou Mizuki, Akira Kushida, Mitsuko Horie, Isao Sasaki, and many others.

Figures One Piece is still up there.

Glad Bleach and Gintama are doing well. Prince of Tennis kinda surprised me. A lot of titles I like are up there, so I'm good to go. :)

Don't know what Hakuouki Sekkaroku is, though...huh.

One Piece, shitting on the wannabes.... AGAIN.

And glad to see Gintama and DC there. They deserve it.

Sep 6, 2011 12:41 PM by WoofSadaharu

Yay! If I am not mistaken, Ichinose Tokiya's single has the best sales (at least in week 1) so far, with respect to the singles of the other guys... Miyano Mamoru FTW! :D I love his voice! Natsuki's single last week was pretty good too though. Yum Utapri~

Madoka in Blu-Ray is beautiful!! Glad to see it on top!! Good to see that IS is still popular too!

I'm a little disappointed to not see Carnival Phantasm up there though...but I suppose that came out a bit ago, so it wouldn't make much sense...I dunno...meh, not a big deal. XP
