According to the Hollywood Reporter, TV Tokyo
and the advertising agency Nihon Ad Systems (NAS) have terminated the license contract of the Yu-Gi-Oh!
series with 4Kids Entertainment and have sued 4Kids for illicit transactions. 4Kids allegedly manipulated the accounts and paid a significantly smaller amount of royalties to TV Tokyo and NAS than they should have paid. For example, 4Kids had hidden their contract with FUNimation and more than 45% of the package sales from the two Japanese companies. 4Kids had been holding the worldwide distributing licenses of the Yu-Gi-Oh! series for more than ten years and has earned $152 million.
