Funimation has announced that it has licensed the Gunslinger Girl Il Teatrino television series. This marks the third license announcement they have made in as many days and their second aquisition from Marvelous Entertainment Inc. this week.

Gunslinger Girl Il Teatrino is the sequel to the Gunslinger Girl anime already released by Funimation. Current plans are to have the entire series in one complete DVD release in 2009. An official english website for the anime has been put online where further updates are expected at a later date.

aw shit. I only got up to ep 1.... >_>

this is a bad license for me. I do not want to buy it because the first ep was not as great D: Also, I don't even own the first season, so no way am I going to buy the second season.

Usually a license of a series I'm watching fansubbed is great news to me, but in this case I'm not too thrilled since Il Teartino just didn't compare to the first season from what I saw, and I don't really want to buy it to find out if it gets better.

Nice to see that some anime companies are still active, though.

My thoughts exactly.

Ahhhhhh!! Oh my gawwwdd!! Whyyy! Whyyy!!

If it takes that long for GSG2 to be released in the US, It's probably going to take another 2 years for it to reach Australia!! OMGG!!!!!!!!!!!!! By that time i'd probably give up already... <_<"

Quality complaints aside, GSG2 is really a no brainer for Funimation to pick up. From what I've heard and gathered the first season performed well for them.

This week looks like it's just going to be some of their lower key announcements as they still have 2 more to go. Bigger ones will probably be reserved for the next major convention.

So now unless they also release the DVDs here (probably in 5 years, when I completely forgot I was watching this), for a reasonable price (not going to happen, I know), or some other group picks it up (don't have my hopes up), looks like I won't be able to finish this series anytime soon =/

The Triad already dropped it and pulled their torrents off their tracker. It wasn't too well received so I'm not sure if there will be any other group willing to fill the void.

Gah, this sucks. Thanks for the info.

Depending on how much Funimation sells it for and what's included, I may pick it up when it comes out next year. I need to find out more info though. Their press release lists that they licensed 13 episodes however Anime News Network shows it at 15 episodes, 2 of them being DVD only. I'm not sure which DVD(s) those episodes will be included in but CDJapan lists the final volume of GSG 2 as being released on September 25th in Japan. For now I'm going off the assumption that their license will include those 2 episodes.

EDIT: 15 episodes confirmed. All on one disc o.O

I really need to watch this. D:

Hmm, hope The Triad will keep subbing it. I never really care about licensing, because you can add 1 or 2 years to the regular time it takes for the anime to appear in the USA from here and importing is way too expensive.
