Japanese Prime Minister Concerned About Tokyo International Anime Fair
According to Jiji Tsushin, Torishima Kazuhiko, the senior managing director of Shueisha and the former editor of Dragon Ball, announced that Shueisha will not allow to exhibit anime related to their manga at TAF 2011. At the ceremony of Newface Manga Author Award, Torishima encouraged the winners to "create manga which can knock down Ishihara Shintaro (the governor of Tokyo)." Ibaraki Masahiko, the chief manager of the third editorial department, said "Don't hesitate in creation. Jump magazine will publish anything fun."

These two sound a little like someone out of a manga would voice one's opinion. Awesome. >D

i was to understand the bill is not a ban. and if its labeled adult they can still do what they want correct? i read that hentai was to be untouched. happy days!! but i also heard there is no more shonen ai or something since japan doesnt support homosexuality. best news iv heard all year! and yes leave the rape and incest to the hentai. id love to see more anime thats for the mature audiences instead of all this giggly crap for little children
This law is not a ban, but it's a template which means that they can do whatever they want if they consider that the show isn't appropriate for their taste. Let's see some of them:
One Piece, Death Note, Berserk, Code Geass, Full Metal Alchemist, etc...

WELL, if a crazy otaku will send a knife to a voice actor she ADORES, someone will eventually kill the guy everyone hates...maybe
The best way to actually kill this fool is an inside job, in other words someone in the government does the assassination. Anything else will send the wrong message.

Yeah, but then that would look bad for us fans if an otaku kills Ishihara over anime/manga. Although I wouldn't be surprised if he gets death threats if this passes.
Well it looks like High School girls will be becoming collage girls soon.

FIGHT ON! Show those douches that we will not bend over to their Bill.
(We should elect Johannes Krauser II to replace Ishihara. And allow him -Krauser- to raep every single moron that supported this Bill in public :D)
Regardless of whether or not I find the bill palatable, at least -some- of those "morons" think they're doing something good, and not just promoting their own morals, or engaging in other, even more insidious acts. What they're actually doing, and how good it actually is, is an entirely different issue. But, the point remains that I think such a punishment would be... excessive.
After all, even in this day and age, sentencing or charges are often lessened against those with mental handicaps or certain other impairments of judgment or ability to think properly. (Yes, I'm sure I displayed no small bit of arrogance in that last statement.)
Maybe we don't need spoiler tags in the news forum, but either way, at least one of those points is somewhat debatable (unless I missed a WoG update on Geass, anyway). Or, at least debated...

"It's important to promote Japanese anime to the world as well as to maintain the education of children. I want the people involved to work together to avoid cancellation of TAF."
After he did such an bullshit
now he still hope the event is able to go on, bullshit!!
that quote is something said by the Prime Minister, who is against the bill, not Ishihara, the guy who can go and spontainiously combust and no otaku would give a damn
