Cardcaptor Sakura
Aww, I liked the anime as a kid. I think the anime is a little better than the manga too. But that could be nostalgia talking. I watched & read both recently. This manga is pretty good for kids but not that entertaining for us older readers. It's good though.

Fullmetal Alchemist
I love this manga. I'm newly addicted to it. It's surprisingly well written and it deals with heavy issues that I find fascinating. Like stepping on God's toes and human ignorance and whether humans should and can resurrect people. The two main characters hold a lot of opinions about what's happened in their past and later learn COMPLETELY new things about what REALLY happened. Man, it's just SO good. Roy Mustang becomes a non-cliche revenge seeker. We meet a FUNNY, LIKEABLE serial killer (if you can believe that!) Characters with dark sides... and characters that CHANGE. This manga rocks my socks. Read it!

Hikaru no Go
I love the anime so much. I probably shot myself in the foot by watching it first. Normally I have a hardcore preference for manga but the Hikaru no Go anime just tops. The manga does not get Akira's intensity across nearly as well as the anime does. So I'm majorly disappointed about that. But I do think it does a good job of showing Hikaru and even Sai's personality.

It's not boring or anything. But anime always has to flesh things out and in the case of this series, it was so well done that the unfleshed out manga just happens to pale in comparison. That's my view...

Update SPOILERS:
Re-read it from ch150 and I think it was good. I heard their voices in my head because I binge-watched the anime first, so that was kind of fun. I think the writing is a little shaky though and it doesn't wrap things up well unfortunately.

I really liked the guy who got to be on Shindou and Akira's team for the tournament, and the guy Shindou played against--Yongha. I'm so disappointed that this story doesn't go on longer. We didn't get to see Shindou's match with Hon Suyon :( And I want more about those two guys I mentioned. And it ends before a battle with Akira and Shindou :( No one played the Divine Move and Touya Koyo doesn't know that Sai is dead and Shindou never told Akira what he said he would some day. That's all so disappointing. I'm going to have to diligently look for fanfiction now. Hopefully all these things are addressed. I don't think I can write these scenes myself, but I'm pretty tempted to try it after all.

Also the mangaka talks about how much she enjoys the gameboy games of it and I'm so jealous because I can't find them online anywhere in English at least! :(

Koi no Kamisama
I'm not used to "one shots" I guess. I think if they continued it I could get into it, but as it is there just isn't much TO this. But at least it didn't take long to read! xD

Monster Soul
This is by the guy that wrote Fairy Tail and BOY, CAN I TELL. That art is so identical. Aki looks like Natsu, Mamii looks like Erza... Touran looks like Nami (which is One Piece and a different author but STILL...) He needs to be more creative with his character designs. :/

I thought this one was "fine." Not even close to "great." Just didn't have enough substance to it. It was kind of pointless.

Ouran Koukou Host Club
I love this manga, and the anime as well! It's hilarious. I thought it was yaoi at first but it's not. It's a cross-dressing story, which is part of why it's so entertaining! Haruhi is NOT your average female lead--she's extremely down to earth, honest, and oblivious to why gender matters, comfortable as a boy as much as a girl (partially due to her cross-dressing father). She's also the only person who can tell the twins apart, and doesn't understand why other people can't. It's a childish manga (though, I think, not really for kids...) but it's really hilarious and good.

I mentioned the twins... they are awesome. They're totally absorbed in theirselves until Haruhi comes along and shakes them up. They have a WICKED sense of humor--they love to mess with people, and are brutally honest, and don't always know how to deal with Haruhi. And eventually they start becoming seperate people more and more. :) They're awesome guys.

Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE
Wow. I wasn't into this in the beginning I wasn't expecting this to be well written. But, my god, the further I get into this, the more I start to think: this writing is masterful! There's so much purpose for everything that happens. I don't think I've read a story with this much foreshadowing and this many TWISTS in my entire life. This thing is CHOCK FULL of amazing twists. Even with the foreshadowing, I'm shocked every single time a new development comes around. And everytime I start to doubt something, soon enough I'm impressed again. I definitely have to reread this manga someday. I know I must be missing so much stuff.

EDIT: OMFG. Chapter 213. THAT IS A TWIST! THAT IS A TWIST!!!!!! Oh my god. That is nuts. That is AMAZING. WOW.

Edit 2: Holy, moly, wow. That was an insane ride! What an awesome manga. I hate to call anything a 'masterpiece' but come on... it takes a lot of work to write something like this, and a lot of creativity and I just really have to praise that!

Edit 3: I tried to watch the anime after this and it was so boring that I completely forgot that I had ever enjoyed the manga. But clearly I did. And ok, I definitely DO need to re-read...

Yuu☆Yuu☆Hakusho
My favorite manga (and anime)! I LOVE this series! Yuusuke is such a punk but he's not a bad guy and he's awesome, and you'll see that right from the beginning (they picked a good beginning for this manga to get you interested). This is another manga that EVENTUALLY deals with some heavy issues and leads to some VERY interesting and unexpected change which I totally give the mangaka props for. I think this manga is VERY, VERY good. Read it, you'll love it too! :) (And then check out Hunter x Hunter which is by the same mangaka)
