Read this after becoming a fan of the anime series and I was just a tiny bit bummed that the individual stories are quite different for a lot of characters, but now I think that's actually a good thing because you have two vastly different experiences, but still with the same tone.

Elfen Lied
I prefer manga way over the anime, just because the amount of additional content here is too awesome. I wished that anime would explore deeper into even more fucked up things, but sadly it kind ended low-key. I re-read this multiple times and I'm going to do it again.
