both are based around notable Japanese developed video game series and both share nice art and character designs and a story of friendship and fighting against a dangerous power. 

Both feature characters being framed for something they didn't do and must find out what really caused them to be in the circumstances that they were in the first place. 

Both contain a set of character studies within the mental psyches of the cast and the kind of troubles they go through against their own will by higher powers that be especially from power hungry corrupt adults who think they are doing this for the greater good. And gnostic judeo christian religious influences throughout the storyline.  

both are phantom thief related stories focusing on taking down the bad guys and stealing valuble objects as well too that are the source of wrong as well too. 

Both feature an outcast mc,friendship,summoning monsters and stopping the bad guys and the bad guys facing harsh punishments. 

Both focus on outsider mcs who hang around other outsider types of characters and are set in a modern Japanese setting and both have spooky and edgy elements to the story and feel and both deal with demons and angels in it as well too. 

Both are being of phantom thief related plots as well as fighting for justice in the shadows.
