Kobayakawa is an antisocial student who lives an extraordinarily ordinary life. His only talent is painting portraits, which he often does to relieve pent-up anger. One day, he meets a pretty and popular girl named Hoshino who has a secret that nobody knows except for her and her childhood friend. That is, until he stumbles upon it too by chance. Her friend had been putting make-up on her every day. Now it's his turn to keep this secret and help maintain her social life!
This manga can give you sweet and warm moments. First of are two main characters in here. While reading it I had laughs, emotional moments, a little bit anger and also warm moments like I said earlier.
Kobayakawa is a unsocial male student. He often pretends like sleeping instead of dealing with other students. He actually despises them for being friendly with each other. For him friendship and all the things that come with it are lies. There are reasons for that we learn while story advances.
Hoshino is quite opposite of Kobayakawa, she is social. She has a close circle of friends, seems like whole
student body likes her and likes her. One thing that picks our interest is her face has a quite make up.
Those to end up with a quite funny circumstance and Hoshino is bound to Kobayakawa because of her make-up. Hoshino has a plain face but with make-up, she becomes the popular Hoshino. Kobayakawa is a quite talented art club student. With Kobayakawa's art club teacher and somehow childhood friend of Hoshino's, they have a mutual connection. Without giving any spoilers, while their friendship evolves and advances more characters from both their current and former lives are involved with them.
Hoshino's character has quite dilemmas but also has many sweet spots, while Kobayakawa starting to have dilemmas also due to his relation with Hoshino.
At first this seems like a dozen other manga stories where a girl is using makeup to hide a plain face and someone helps her out. That's at first. What this really is is a drama that focuses on overcoming self-imposed obstacles. It includes a hefty serving of: "Yes, what you did in the past was horribly wrong, but there are times where you can still make amends and fix the situation. It won't be easy, and may be quite painful, but give it a go."
If you expect light reading, this isn't the story for you. However,
if you like a good drama that doesn't drown in angst, you might just enjoy this story - quite a bit.
The male lead is a not a loner, he has a friend, but he considers himself a loner. Also, it is his fault that he is a loner, because he does not want to be in any specific group, and all he does is whine and judges other groups. The female lead is fake, and she is proud that she is fake. She is afraid of others finding out about the real her, because they will not be friends with her anymore. Well, if that is the case, then they are not her real friends, plus she is deceiving them.
Somehow the male lead judges everyone and pushes them away, but is alright being around with a fake person. The art teacher is portrayed as nice, but perceive her as a manipulative witch. She helps the female lead with her make-up, but manipulates the male lead to take over the duties because she became busy at work, and I do not recall her saying please. Regardless if the teacher want to pass the make-up work to someone else, or she has good intentions because she wants both leads to interact with each other, she is still manipulating. There are no likeable characters for me to continue the manga.
