I do not know what to say... I found this while looking at revenge Mangas. I thought it would be good. The story was interesting when i started reading
but after a point it became unbearable... The story of MANGA is unbelievably bad. After somewhere I just read to finish but i could not. Can't believe wasted my time for this...

The MC Eyama is a kid who is bullied by Aya(the bully)he is bullied everyday.One day a letter come by randomly called the "Captivity Game" .Rules are simple,You get to do anything you want to the victim in the game (Example:Cutting off any body part,rape,kicking them,starvation,etc...)As long as you don't kill them.The winner gets 10 million yen,the participant has to guess who the person is who is abusing them in 1 week,for 1 month totaling up to 4 guesses.

The Art:6/10
The art was ok, wasn't that big of a deal due to the story being good.

Character:8/10
Good character development within ... the story.

I give this a 8/10 because it gave off a good vibe but it isn't worth the 9/10 or 10/10.

I think this manga is definitely underrated. I just don't understand why people rate it this low so much. Let me explain to you why you should consider reading this manga with my spoiler free review.

Story: 9
After some thought, I've decided to give this 9 instead of 10. The story is amazing with some great twists and turns. I think it's ranked low because people read it to fulfil their sadistic desires and gets disappointed after not seeing the gore and torture scenes they wanted. You will see some fair share of torture scenes but the plot is very interesting. I've seen too many people ... drop this manga because it cuts its torturing. At the end of the day, this manga is more of a psychological than a horror.

Art is fine. I have no problems with it

Character: 7
This is something very controversial to me. You know how in Tokyo Ghoul when Kaneki is tortured brutally and he suddenly turns bad-ass but becomes kind again later? It's similar to that, but a bit more rational. I'm not saying they're all rational because some characters are really messed up with their ideas and morals. However, in the end I really enjoyed the characters and their developments so I'm giving it a 7.

Enjoyment: 9
I was always curious about the next chapter and genuinely invested into it. Sadly the rest of the manga after chapter 60 is missing

The manga started off well. It wasn't anything out of the ordinary but highlighted how far bullying goes to break you, it's a torture manga plot, and was enjoyably done, with a few hints of seeing our protagonist losing his mind throughout.

But I have many problems with how the story goes and how the author suddenly throws things off instead of advancing the characters further.

Story: 2/10 - Character: 3/10
First off, let's get the biggest problems out of the way without spoiling; the protagonist was suddenly sidelined, and the plot suddenly changed into a mystery plot that is very predictable, and the main character pretty much ... changed - our protagonist does not matter to the end.
This would be fine, there are plenty of stories that change perspective. This manga does it in the worst way possible. The other perspectives, while does affect the story, are completely wasted potentials. Then give almost zero attention to our first protagonist and change him completely for absurd reasons.

My biggest gripe is how the plot progressed. If you've read the summary, that's not going to be important anymore. The bullying is only brought up sometimes after a certain point, since the author pretty much forgot the protagonist existed, only focusing on the weird mystery plot of "who's the mastermind?", but does not involve our protagonist. He becomes a tool for the author to insert into the story, and not in a way that feels satisfying.
It's a B-plot that suddenly overtakes the main plot, and another C-plot becomes the B-plot.

Of course, the characters' personalities start off great with a certain edge and mystery but sadly turn into clichés and tropes. Yes, you will see a damsel in distress, an obvious villain, a self-inserted character, etc. There are a few characters I find interesting that were done well, which I will say, will not matter later on.
Anything after the person whom our main character is torturing confesses why she did it, the whole story turns into garbage. Everything they've built our character up, from someone who was genuinely hurt and wants an answer from the bullying by doing horrible means (despite everything could've easily been resolved by other means), turns into the typical edge-lord and becomes a "monster". Trust me, he will make you cringe.

Secondly, the manga does a sin that I just despise, something Kill La Kill and even The Last of Us 2 do, but done much worse; characters being killed for no reason or incredibly cheaply, and they will not matter and are quickly forgotten. It was all to build up the mystery. They become plot devices, not characters. This MIGHT be fine, if not for the waste of following them as characters for so long, then you get an assassination of character writing.


Lastly, the message of the manga is just pure garbage. It is written to sympathize with the bully, but not in a way where the story or our main character evolves from it. They do change, but not because of genuinely emotional moments, but because of the story demands it.
A large problem with the characters is how suddenly they change their feelings at times when it should've been the driving point.
You don't go 120 mph and then do a 45-degree turn. The author expects us to forgive and forget, or by just one nice action by one character you're suddenly forgiven, and then it doesn't go anywhere after that, only focusing on the mystery plot afterward.

The author apparently poured his heart into this manga, where he hated himself to the breaking point when he went to school. And while I can sympathize with that feeling, the manga does not reflect that. This feels like he made it for himself without any skills or writing, of how he wants everything to just go perfectly and self-insert as the plot-armored, badass protagonist, and then when he realized he's supposed to be writing a story, suddenly changes into a whole different manga.
What I'm trying to say is that it feels like something he wrote as an angsty 13-year-old going through a phase. I know this because I wrote something similar that I thought was noteworthy as a 14-year-old that knew nothing about writing.

And the ending is just... ugh...
You don't want to read that far, trust me. It's incredibly rushed and for some reason, turns into a horrible fighting manga with characters you will barely care about, the bullying just stops, and everything feels like a waste.


Art: 5/10
The art is okay, it's definitely distinctive at times, and the author did well with the torture scenes and facial expressions, albeit incredibly edgy that it feels goofier and less serious. The art style is not for me, but I'm okay with it. The background though is just horrendous and plain at times, but it seems like the artist/author doesn't really care about the background, since it seems to be more focused on the "story".

There is definitely a hook, especially in the beginning. I was interested in how the torture would affect the "bullies", how our protagonist will change, as well as two characters I found interesting, but would not matter in the end. It's a manga made for self-inserted edgy teens, but even those are at least done better.

It's a manga that focuses on the wrong things, changing into clichés with both plot and characters. It's nothing special, but definitely not good, either. The art will not change for the better, I actually think it gets worse. It's clear the author just wanted the manga to end, was axed, or just was badly written.

You're better off reading any other sadistic/torture manga because that at least is coherent and builds up characters. You will not connect to any characters, the bully, or bullied. Or, if you decide to read it, read it until you notice the bully explaining why she did it. It will not matter, and the plot won't either.
In short, this manga tries to do too many things but fails at all of them.

The Prison lab has to do with , how people change if they have full freedom .

Great manga , you can unleash your hate :P , revenge or even watch some highly detailed brutal scenes only by reading this manga ! its so amazing how our main character changes personality that i cant describe it ! now ... stop reading the reviews and start reading the manga !!

Having read a total of 56 chapters of this manga, I think it's okay to look back on my surreal experience with it. It is nearing the end anyway.

Man, what a mess this one is. And mind you, not a good mess at all. The surreal experience that I am talking about wasn't due to the manga itself; rather, it was me wondering how in the world did it tumble its way down to an edgy story full of weirdos, when it started with brutal themes like power imbalance and revenge. On top of that, the decline in quality was so steep that I'm ... surprised to have not put this one down yet.

The synopsis gives a clear idea of what the plot is about as well as the themes that serve as bedrock (or at least did in the beginning). Our main guy, Eyama, is a victim of severe bullying at school. Horrible bullying, in fact. His bullies are shepherded by Aya, our main girl, who is loved and respected by everyone.

But the fate of our hapless mc takes a turn when he is given power by the "Captivity Game." The power imbalance between Eyama and Aya does a 180, leaving the bullied in charge of whatever happens to the bully. For one month. Literally, whatever happens. The game puts Eyama in a position of power that is even higher than Aya's, free to do whatever the hell he wants.

And this is where the story starts... only to take a rather bizarre and embarrassing route for its journey. [No spoilers ahead]

I think it is stupid to judge a story based on what message it's trying to give (if it's giving a message at all). But every story does start off with some themes that carry some meaning behind them, irrespective of what the message is. Therefore, it hurts to watch this manga throw away its former, imo better, themes and replace them with something shallow and out of place. And it has adverse effects on all the elements.

In the beginning, the plot was really promising. There is a scene in Chapter 1(?) where Eyama is bullied by Aya and her gang. And damm if that scene doesn't feel real. Eyama's horror and Aya's ruthlessness are clearly felt in this scene. Beyond this, there are also some interesting plot points that broaden the plot to something more than just "Bully bad, bullied victim." (I won't mention them as they might be considered spoilers).

But the interesting stuff did not shine for too long as it quickly got buried under a pile of bad decisions that that were progressively worse. Flippant, thematically ineffective, crass, these are the perfect descriptions for most of the events that unfold after, say, Chapter 10. And by the end of Chapter 56, we have a hotchpotch of meaningless plot-twists and revelations that won't make you bat an eye. Bullying, power struggle, all are forgotten as major themes. They are only used to further a storyline that is more an edgy drama than psychological horror.

And the main perpetrators of this edgy drama are the characters.

I swear to god, most characters feel like they are suffering from bipolar disorder. One panel, there is a dark shadow over their devious faces. And right after that, they transform into chibis, cracking lame-ass jokes. I understand if it was the artist's intention to portray them as hiding behind a fake smile, but it doesn't feel natural to me. It's clumsy, it breaks the tension and flow of the story. It's like they have a mood switch to become serious or chill in an instant.

This department also suffers from the same problem the plot does: good things not lasting long. Aya and Eyama had a good thing going on during the first week of captivity. It was something akin to Light and L in Death Note- a psychological battle where if they break, their life will be forfeited. Both had the potential to become very interesting characters. Playing the Captivity Game with their lives on the line, Eyama and Aya exploited each other's shortcomings as people in order to come out on top.

But guess what happened when one of them did mentally break later on? Yes, A WHOLE LOT OF NOTHING. Nothing and a whole lot of dumbfuckery, which includes:

1) Flashbacks that highlight just how unnecessarily idiotic the characters are
2) Moefication of all female characters
3) RoMaNcE

....As for the side characters, they are not really worth talking about. There's one Arakawa-san, though, who is kind of a poor (and bipolar) man's Kakashi-sensei. (imho)

The art is good, honestly. There are a bunch of wallpaper-worthy panels of Eyama and Arakawa-san. But the art can't do anything when other elements are so inconsistent and bad.

Other than all that, this manga has edge. Bucketloads of edge. Edge that will cut right through your cringe tolerance and make you feel embarrassed for a bunch of people who clearly think that their edginess is badass. It's not; it's bad. It's painful.

There are a lot of gory and disturbing scenes as well. Although for me personally, they weren't that disturbing since I had little to no emotional attachment to anyone or anything.

Finally, I wish I could say that this work had potential. If I could, I would have given it a 5. This manga doesn't have any potential, though. And that's because it threw away all the good things it had to offer very quickly and replaced them with story elements that had no rhyme or reason to them whatsoever. Elements that were distasteful and disappointing and had no impact on me.

I will finish this one out of sheer morbid curiosity ( that's a plus, I guess) but I don't recommend it to anyone else AT ALL.

Do you ever just stumble upon something completely terrible, a story that essentially is pure edge with a little bdsm on the side. Yet despite the little quality within the story and characters, you find yourself continuing to read chapter after chapter, out of sheer morbid curiosity due to its extremity.

Enter our main protag eyama, a highschooler(?) who is ruthlessly bullied and is given a chance to get back at his bully. Of course given the chance he makes a 180 and brutally beats her (eventually) and goes batshit crazy, exploiting the very system the captive game he was enrolled within ... as he dives deeper into insanity.

Really if your gonna read this your not here for the story, or for deep characters. Your here to see how grotesque and absurd the story can get, so if thats your cup of tea ( like mine ) read it.

This manga is still good at standpoint for a person who got bullied or who can relate, but there is something wrong with the person who, wrote the whole plot of the story is such a kind person...

As the main character who got bullied over 3 years, and still you accept a single sorry.. The writer has a single problem in his mind. Who dare to forgive such a cruel experience...

All I can say is good story but if you read until the end of the chapter feel the pain of something doesn't suppose to do a normal person. But still, the manga is good ... as almost I gave it 5/10 for the effort only the story but not the character is 7/10 being practical.

The premise of this manga and the characters were somewhat interesting at first, but it took a huge nosedive in quality and the author just started bullshitting his way to the end.

Aside from the atrocious writing, the characters in this manga are so detached from reality, it's as if they all have bipolar disorder, and a common trope in this manga is basically that if someone wrongs you, it's a valid excuse to go and destroy their life for the sake of it.

It's almost as if the way the characters are written is satirical. Please do not waste your time with this.

Story:
I'm pretty sure the story is really good, but it could've been better. The story was really focused on the plot, well its a good thing but, author-san should've also gave more love to the supporting characters and villain/s because from what I read, they lack love, writing their story even better would make this a masterpiece.

Art:
I don't really pay attention to art because I mainly focus on story but anyways, the art is good.

Character:
Like I've said supporting characters and villain/s would've been better if they got the screen time they deserve or at least a better story behind them. Aside from ... that, the mc was well written and the mc is 10/10 in character.

Enjoyment:
From the start, I assumed this has the predictable ending like all mediocre stories out there, but as I read more I get more curious about its end, I thought "maybe this is a hidden gem, maybe the reviews are wrong" and oh boy, as the end goes near it gets even better and better. The ending have so much potential, any ending would do just not the cliche one, I thought. The ending didn't go to the routes that I've thought of, instead it went with the most cliche one. Good God, they could have at least made alternate endings but nah. Also as the story mainly focus on the mc, some deaths should've been for the development of mc, but most of them were wasted. Author-san half assed the tragedy towards the end, well this isn't tragedy but damn.

Overall:
I would say this is still good af. Definitely recommended to read, and also if you hate cliche, I recommend not reading past chapter 65. The mystery and uncertainly factor that I felt in chapter 65 was the best. You'll probably cringe at the next chapters if you'll read it.

Prison lab is a mash of ideas, coupled into a nonsensical plot that derails from its own morals and tone to an astronomical degree.

Time was wasted into reading this one. The synopsis tries to sell a manga about revenge, gore, human depravity, all while not being about that at all. Of course, this can be amazing, a manga that changes course and comes to a diverse range of genres. No, this is not what you're looking for, not in any way that the premise sells.

The point of Prison Lab turned into something quite different for a moment. Morality started being explored in a much ... more mature light just for some chapters, mostly including side characters that didn't want death. Suspicions arise, members of the organization want to discover about a true leader. Interest grew until, something happened with the writing. Characters started to create twists that made no sense, every turn made no sense, characters acted like dumbasses. Fight scenes meant nothing when the winner had a terribly written reason as to why they won. The tone shifted so much between trying to make a good point about the world, to haha, we are quirky violent. It was jarring to say the least, terrible saying the most. The characters and story got terrible at some point.

The end of the story holds no meaning, no lesson learned. Characters go through the worst they could, wounds deep into their bodies and souls. Haha, school is fine, we chillin'. Nothing makes sense until the very end, even though some tweaks could've made it decent. Dialogue that destroyed motives, deaths that started to get funny, happening literally after they are like "Oh my god, I want to do something with my life", Bam, dead.

Prison lab is a terrible manga with decent art. Not recommended if you're looking for a good revenge manga, not good if you look for an interesting mystery. This isn't a good manga in any way you could look at it. As I said, a mash of ideas that were never developed to a good degree. A manga that tries to take itself seriously while betraying itself at every opportunity it can, in the end, destroying its own potential.

It was a good story, all things considered. You usually expect this sort of story to be really weird with really mentally ill characters all around. Yk regular torture porn. But overall it was an enjoyable story, with an exciting plot, an interesting main character, with an interesting character arc, and nearly every single character had an interesting and well-thought-out character arc, which is rare in this genre. Honestly, I think the manga should have been 100 chapters long. Chapters 50-60 were really contrived and had too much exposition, and they kinda fucked up the pacing around halfway through but overall I recommend it. It's ... short enough that you could finish in a single afternoon.

Have you heard of the Stanford Prison Experiment? Prison Lab, a manga, explores a similar psychological journey, revealing the true nature of humanity when pushed to the brink, just like the Stanford Prison Experiment.

Story 6
The story begins with the protagonist, a typical victim of bullying at school, receiving a mysterious invitation to play a strange game. The game promises a large sum of money for winning, but there's a catch: the protagonist must choose someone to imprison and lock up for 30 days, without killing them. If the prisoner is able to guess who imprisoned them within those 30 days, they win the ... money instead of the protagonist.

The series is a gripping manga that explores the dark side of humanity. The story is highly dynamic, taking the reader on a rollercoaster of emotions with its many ups and downs. It's fascinating to see how the main character's environment and role cause him to deviate from his usual self to a more psychopathic personality.

The background of each character contributes to making the story more interesting and dynamic, and our opinion of the characters often changes throughout. However, in the later parts of the series, I felt like the plot was being rushed to a conclusion, which made the ups and downs of the story somewhat meaningless.

Character 7
The author does a good job developing the main character in the beginning and middle of the story, showing dynamic reactions to conflicts. However, the transitions between the character's personal life and thoughts are awkward and detract from the overall quality of the development. While initially interesting, the fact that the main character is a rather average person may reduce some readers' interest.

Furthermore, the side character that the MC brought along is well-developed, with an early background that was introduced in a previous chapter. Additionally, there are insights into her feelings towards the MC, as well as her backstory.

One of the strengths of Prison Lab is that it offers a diverse cast of characters, each with their own motivations and backgrounds. This creates a multi-dimensional story that doesn't solely revolve around the main character. Seeing the game from the perspectives of the other players also allows for a broader understanding of the challenges and obstacles they face.

Art 7
The artwork is well-crafted and neat, but it lacks artistic value that would make it stand out. The artist did create a well-composed panel with a variety of backgrounds, which prevented the panel from becoming boring. Although the art style lacks detail, it is acceptable. However, the thrilling aspects of this manga do not come from the art, but rather from the storytelling that makes them come to life.

I think the character design is average and not particularly special, but I wouldn't say it's bad. The lack of shadow detail in the artist's work makes the design less distinctive. However, I didn't notice any repetition or the use of recycled designs.


Overall 7
If you don't have a lot of time or aren't particularly interested in psychological, seinen, or violent content, then you may want to skip this one. There are better options for those looking for more compelling or gruesome content in that genre.

However, if you are into that certain genre, you could try reading it and either hate it or love it. But, I make no promises since if you're already well-versed in such segmented content, Prison Lab may not be your first choice.

I have mixed feelings about this series. Although I may not recommend it, I hesitate to give it a lower score. I really enjoyed the story. It was dynamic, and my thoughts on the characters frequently changed. This made me curious, especially in the early chapters of the series.

Although I found the earlier and middle chapters underrated, the conclusion of the story left me feeling underwhelmed. The roller coaster of emotions that had been built up throughout the series seemed to break down. While I understand that the ending is ultimately up to the reader's interpretation, in my opinion, the author could have better developed the story and characters to create a more satisfying conclusion.
