It's by the same author so the feelings and atmosphere around it are very similar. Some characters are also very similar both in looks and personality with some of the Pandora Hearts characters. I also tend to believe they both happen during the same time period aka the 19th century basing myself on the clothes, just that Pandora hearts happens in England while Vanitas no Carte in France.

both are - supernatural - historical - european setting - very similar vibes the premise of both of them involves a pair of two guys who go around behind society, to deal with supernatural evils/ events. one of them is a creature (vampire / demon), the other is "normal"

Both are mystery themed stories with lots of dark and spooky stuff in it and also quite a bit of action included too.

Both works have characters with supernatural abilities, they use a lot of dialogues and information to understand the characters, but there are also action and fight scenes, both have characters that are usually minors involved in dangerous and mature situations. Both mangas touches dark topics in a non-fast way and i think if you looking more stories like that you can look the other show.

Both being from the same mangaka and both also sharing the similar spooky and dark feel and aesthetic to it as well too.

Both mangas have really intricately drawn characters that have a unique character design and distinct conflicting personalities. They also both deal with themes of the supernatural and saving people from 'darkness'. The plots both consist of someone who wishes to help people who have the same problem as them in a sense whilst working alongside people with powers.

Both have similar settings and very elegantly drawn male characters. Both have strong themes of mystery, dark plot points and compelling narratives.

Both have got a very similar supernatural vibe. They have a very similar tone and feel in the story so far. The main characters duo in both stories have very similar dynamics. The world of Vanitas is a lot bigger, while Hanako-kun is set in the school but other than that both plots develop at similar paces.

"Vanitas no Carte" and "Dusk Howler" are beautiful and mysterious shounen stories that tell the adventures of two bishounens. The main characters in "Vanitas no Carte" are the vampire Noé Archiviste and the human Vanitas, while the main characters in "Dusk Howler" are the undead Nine and the human Jaiha. "Vanitas no Carte" takes place in a fantasy steampunk world, while "Dusk Howler" takes place in the virtual fantasy game "Trikia" ("Thrace") where the continent is divided into two parts: the Light Camp (the kingdom of humans, elves and other light races) and the Dark Camp (the kingdom of vampires, werewolves and other dark races).
