When she stands, she's like a white peony. When she sits, she's like a tree peony. When she walks, she's like a lily flower. And when you look her in the eyes, she's like the Great King of Terror. Despite having the qualities to be a peerless bishoujo, because of the look of her eyes and that atmosphere of hers, she's feared by others; such a girl is forcefully sent to another world. Being told by an Evil God that she would be granted a wish as a special favor, the girl made a wish──
"Make my eyes and atmosphere normal please."
This is a story recounting the lifestyle in a parallel world of a girl who would be perfect (probably) if just her one weak point was overcome.
A fantasy comedy with magic, dungeons, and a hero and a demon king(candidate) who she gets tangled up with.
In many of the Isekai trope, Evil God Average takes female protagonist as it MC. I find this to be quite refreshing among all overpowered boy gets all the chicks trope --not that I inherently have any problem with that.
Evil God Average is a relaxing misunderstood tropes comedy. Our protagonist is granted with OP aura and mystic eyes that would terrify every living thing. She only wishes for a normal and average lifestyle, but alas, poor little girl.
The story is pretty straightforward, it moves at its own pace, and the core of the story is about the 'problem' that keep appearing to our protagonist. By
problems, it is not some sort of drama or long-wind-plot, but merely a development that our protagonist never wishes to happen but have to deal with it anyway.
The fact that our protagonist is female does help in seeing a development in a little different light than usual and also help in character relationship. Again, I don't inherently dislike male protagonist get a flock of chicks everywhere he goes, but in Evil God Average, I sort of find it sexier than normal. Might be due to my Yuri-blood keeps shipping for the never-gonna-happen-scenario but still, I like more this way. Side characters are funny too, especially their impression on our protagonist. I laugh at the side-story which told the story from other characters' perspective more than I thought I would.
Overall, it is a straight-forward and relaxing isekai story with female protagonist. Her interaction with others and how she tries to live a normal life in a world where she is granted with terrifying aura is funny to read.
I am left sitting here just confused. I am confused as to how such a great story managed to have such baffling 3 last chapters. This Is the first time I've come across such a great story where the final 3 chapters actually affect my opinion so much. Hell, You could even say It's only 2 chapters.
First the good things.
The characters are all likable except Anbaal. I really enjoy Leonora and I do think that the pair up of both Leonora and Anri ( The MC ) Is kind of adorable and a perfect couple. I did like the Idea that both the MC
and her travel place to place enjoying their lives like on an Eternal vacation.
I do like that the story features a likable female MC. Normally the only ones will feature these awkward and awful romances that seem forced. I do admit that I think it'd be better If Yuri was In this with Leonora and the MC together. But I do like that the story felt It wasn't needed to have a romance ( Even with some of the heavy Yuri themes)
The comedy Is pretty good. I've found stories that I personally find funnier, But, It Is a pretty good story.
The story itself doesn't really seem to be existent.
Now going onto the things I dislike
We get some things like Tena being a Former slave Is posed with the question of whether or not she wants to meet her parents that sold her into slavery again. An interesting Idea that Is for the most part forgotten to tell It's really badly thrown In the last chapter at a passing comment. Things like this happen a lot.
The third chapter to last we have Leonora make a mistake and as a result, It leaves with Anri ( MC ) with lots of new responsibilities. Anri Is acting very down trotted. So, I thought we'd get something of interest with the MC feeling utter despair for the first time she's come to this world. Where the friends realize that this Isn't something that time will solve and Leonora realizes how big of a mistake she made Is. But we get just a passing moment.
Finally. I'll get too what I thought was the worst thing about the story. The final two chapters.
So out of nowhere, The god that sent her to this world shows up, Acts really cliche and dumb. Then said's " Hey, I'll send you to Earth' MC obviously realizes somethings up and calls him out. It turns out that the MC isn't actually the girl she thought she was and Is, in fact, someone made by the god with the memories and appearance of some random girl on Earth... Why???
This Is one of the most unneeded plots reveals. It doesn't come back In the story at all and just does nothing but infuriate me.
"Kumo desu ga, Nani ka?" Is the only other story I've come across with such a dumb reveal. While I thought It was dumb In that story. This Is just utter crap. This, I'm not even kidding, It annoys me to no end.
The thing that annoys me so much Is that It's so unneeded. So many things they could've done with this to make It interesting.
Something that always bugs me Is that these people brought to another world never seem to care that they aren't able to see their Family, Friends or even society. I've always wanted a story like I'm about to explain.
But, The MC has been gone for over a Year now. She suddenly disappeared from Earth and how Family, Friends, and Schoolmates are none the wiser as to what happened. I'd imagine that for Earth time It's only been 3-6 months. Anri ( MC ) Comes back to Earth and we can see how the family and friends and even schoolmates react. Would've loved that.
There's also the dumb thing about there being the Human and Divin versions. Just needlessly complicates things
The final chapter Is this really rushed feeling end credit scene type thing that you see In awful stories. Just quickly going through what happened to who. Could've been better or just removed altogether.
Overall. The story Is really fun. It's just the finale chapters that ruin It. I am actually surprised that this doesn't have a Manga adaptation at least. I can see It being a thing ( Hopefully they'd change the ending) But from the art and the story itself, I can see a manga working for this.
