There's nothing I like more than a sweet shounen ai with lovable characters. Yamete kudasai mabushii desu is just that, and I found it worth reading despite its flaws. (I will be abbreviating the name to YKMD for the rest of the review)
The story of YKMD is nothing special. It doesn't get the chance to be, at only 6 chapters. Despite this, I always felt engaged in the story. It didn't ever feel like the story was stagnating - however during conversations, it was sometimes difficult to work out who was talking. Overall it's a short but sweet story that serves it's purpose but doesn't try to be anything special.
The art is okay. All the characters are easily recognisable from each other, which was a plus. Backgrounds are minimal. The artist clearly doesn't understand how to draw glasses, which made sasano look ridiculous in some panels, but I think it added to his personality in a quirky way.
None of the characters have that much depth. Even the main characters are kind of 2d. On the plus side, the romance felt natural. I would have liked it if the manga was a little longer so the characters would have more time to develop their feelings. Koga was an especially likeable character and I loved his interactions with sasano - they're super cute together!
I feel like I've given YKMD a bit of a cynical review so far. It definitely does have flaws, but overall I really enjoyed reading it. The romance was cute and the art was nice. It was like a soft drink - not the highest quality drink, but bubbly and refreshing all the same.
YKMD is the perfect 'snack' manga for in between larger series. It's a cute love story that shounen ai lovers will enjoy! s( ^ ‿ ^)-b read more
