Witches, Crusaders and Witch Hunts. Damn it's entertaining to read. *review contains minor spoilers of volume 1*
Story: A roman monk that studies witches accidentally revives an ancient witch, one of the "First Witches". He becomes a heretic and is banished from the religious order. But his new mission is to use the ancient witch he revived to hunt younger witches that are causing chaos among the people. While looking for one specific witch that once burned his own village to ash. It's a very "European" kind of story.
Art: The art is really freaking good. There's a lot of gore, fighting and boobs, but the art
is surprisingly clear and well made. It's easy to follow and the girls are beautiful.
Characters: I really enjoy the characters, since the Main Character was a monk, he's mentally strong and can easily become a religious warrior (crusader) in the coming volumes. And the Witches, both ancient ones and the younger murderous ones all have really fitting personalities for such a serious story. Frankly, it's much better than the immature shounen manga characters.
Enjoyment: So I really love the not-so-Japanese story after reading most of the typical mainstream manga. A monk teaming up with some of the "First Witches" to become witch hunters, slaying young witches that kill humans, it's just so refreshing. Though I won't blame those that want a more mainstream story like Tokyo Ghoul or Bleach.
