Nineteen-year-old Takashi Amamiya dies after tripping on a bottle but is transported into a body of a cute girl, Akane Hagiwara. Following this, Amamiya goes through various trials and tribulations dealing with, being a girl, getting his body back, and dealing with old and new friends.
A must read for gender-bender fans, and probably amusing for people who are just into high school comedy. It's not a particularly memorable story. There are no brilliant, laugh-out-loud funny situations as there are in such stories as Power! (Girl Got Game) or Pretty Face. The character development especially is pretty weak. Yes, Akane is a quite cute girl, but various males' obsession with her is a bit overdone. The end was also lacking; the mangaka apparently preferred leaving any kind of real resolution up to readers' imagination. Considering how funny gender-benders are, the mangaka didn't do much with
the material, but it's still an entertaining, worthwhile read.
Akane-chan Overdrive is a two volume manga by Mizuki Kawashita that is for all fans of gender bender mangas.
Story- (77/100) The story is something that I have never before experienced. Nineteen-year-old Takashi Amamiya dies after tripping on a bottle but is transported into a body of a cute girl, Akane Hagiwara. Amamiya goes through various trials and tribulations dealing with, being a girl, getting his body back, and dealing with old and new friends.
Art- (87/100) The art is very good. There isn't many sorounding images but the characters are all drawn amazingly.
Character- (70/100) This is probably the weakest point to the manga. You really
can't figure some characters out. Takashi Amamiya seems to change personalities without a reason and the other characters aren't really helping. The only character tgat I feel for is Satoru Murai. I personally can relate to him the most.
Enjoyment- (73/100) This manga was enjoyable. There was a lot of things in this manga people would enjoy, and I don't mean the rape scene.
Overall- (77/100) This was a good ecchi gender bender manga. The art was what made me read the whole manga and the story helped out. What most people will probably not like about this manga is the characters. It is pretty enjoyable and is a must read for all gender bender fans.
this manga was at times very awkward and weird, but yet amusing.
if your into boys switching into girls bodies, or body switching in general, then you might just like this one. even though its really, hmm well to be honest it was confusing, or maybe it was just me :D! but very funny and enjoyable. read it(: !
It's been long since I read it so don't remember many details that could probably affect my rating but I'll go ahead cause I really want to write a review on this.
It's innovative though not the first one but still pretty different than the rest of the mangas and considering the date when it was written. There were twists and unexpected ones,at least for me they were.Me being a sucker for romantic moments and such this manga just when you thing something is gonna happen, something really does but not what you expected.I found it funny at some points if I remember right.Maybe not something you
can laugh your ass off for hours but it does have its moments too.
Well...well,the ending was totally unexpected and a bit of disappointing, but if you reconsider it you'll probably find it funny and memorable, which is always good.Still,it left me expecting more.
I really enjoy the art of this mangaka.I have to admit that she draws her characters in her own style, which recognizable. They girls are just plain cuties like in Hatsukoi Limited.
Now I don't remember the characters that well so I might be wrong at this one.I'm not sure whether there was development or not but the characters were nice.I doubt there was anyone annoying the hell out of me,so you'll probably be fine with them.Although I could relate as much, most likely because the manga was short.
I personally(like I just said personally)enjoyed a lot it.Don't know about you but I did because of the story, funny situations, ecchiness and could be because of the reason that I was still pretty new to manga when I read it.
Again I enjoyed it.I enjoyed the story, the art,the character.I'm actually sure this is pretty underrated compared to other ecchi or harem mangas out there who all follow the same boring story line,boy-meets-girl and falls in love with her BUT only her(now that's what loyalty means).
