Since there isn't any reviews for this. I choose to do one myself. Please note these are my own thoughts, your thoughts are your own, agree or disagree.
Ah, Re:Zero. Easily one of my favorite Anime and Light Novels. I kinda do wish I could've said so for the manga aswell. Oh, and before I start: If you haven't read the Re:Zero, or hell, if you haven't even watched the anime, I recommend skipping over this review.
-- STORY: ~(6.75/10)~
Have you ever read something that just was actually really good? Now, try explaining out loud to yourself, it's fine if you have to reiterate once or twice
...
about what transpired, but try to make it more or less like the original. A bit taxing, is it not? The story you're trying to recreate is really good, no doubt about that, but since you're trying to reproduce the feelings that you encountered as most would get from reading the original work, it can be quite hard to tell the story in the way the original did. It's no understatement to say it's difficult, with experience you can become better. Unfortunately, I wouldn't say the mangaka has too much experience with this sort of thing. That's the complete impression i've gotten out of this. But this is more or less what happened here, lack of experience in storytelling made it present itself in not the most compelling way as did the LN/anime. Still enjoyed it, however. But don't get me wrong, that's not to say it was bad. It was borderline good in all honesty. Hope they get better at it in the future
-- ART: ~(6/10)~
The art wasn't good, DEFINITELY NOT BAD though. In actuality, it's pleasant. I say this because of how visually compelling some mangas are out there. Like Vagabond or Berserk. I consider them both 10/10s, to say only 3 steps down would get you to this level just won't sit right with me. I'd say that the best artwork you might see here is a step less than what I feel the very early Gintama [manga] deserves [artistically], so yeah that's just my assessment. Though this really just dabbles in the matter of subjectivity. So, can't really say much here more than what I've said.
-- CHARACTERS: ~(7/10)~
Remember in Heaven's Arena in Hunter x Hunter where Killua drew that line of his assessment on the difference in skills between Hisoka, Hanzo, Gon, and himself? (If not, goto https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXRpFGhI_J8&t=26s) Imagine that Hisoka is the Light Novel version, Hanzon the anime, and Killua the manga version. Sure, there's still a LONG distance between the two [Hazno & Killua], however, despite them not being the farthest away, they're far enough to warrant a noticeable difference, characters don't feel the exact same and just feel, seem, and act a little different.. this manga is not too great with the characters, not saying it is bad, but definitely not great..
They give off the same vibe i guess, they aren't as well-written as in the novel and whatnot, but still, they did a pretty good job of recreating them here. It's definitely a stretch from how you'd want to be, but considering their experience and whatnot, it isn't a stretch to say, they did a good job recreating them here.
-- ENJOYMENT: ~(7.25/10)~
I do not need to explain this, do I? I personally enjoyed it. I found it to be a fun experience, it isn't perfect. It felt boring at times, but at the end of the day, I'd say it's engaging enough to be considered a 7/10 -- which is a good score in my book. That is all for this one.
-- OVERALL: ~(7/10)~
Factoring all the numbers in, I'd say it's good. Just that, and I feel I'm being just a bit generous here. But overall, I'd say it's good. Is it worth your time? Depends. Are you huge on Re:Zero? If so, then yes. If not, then maybe. I'd say maybe not completely worth your time as it isn't a very quick read, not a long one though. But if you have the time to spare, I'd recommend it. But yeah, that'll conclude my review. I might edit a few things here and there, as I submitted this without even proofreading, but I hope you enjoyed it and whatnot. Have a good day, thanks for reading.
Also, I wrote this just for fun. I didn't spend too much time on it, just did it to write.
