Saku no Kono Hana is a manga written by Miyashita Kitsune that is purely a love story. The manga has been exquisitely drawn and apparently soars above the rest of its genre. The underlying concept sketches a beautiful portrait of a sincere love story between two young men. The brave attempt of focusing on a taboo, illicit relationship is worthy of approbation. I stumbled upon this fine piece of art on a sunny day while chatting with my friends at a Facebook anime club.
Anyways you've heard me. Basically, this is a yaoi manga. Regardless you're a fan of this genre or not and solely based on your own choice, give this a read. I wouldn't interfere any further and will try my best to describe this manga up to your understanding.
The story in its entirety is a love story that refrains from elucidating thematic depth. The manga focuses on Youta and Sakuno's daily life as they both had become lovers. Sakuno is an aesthetically pleasing guy, probably a red-line you may never cross again. Suffices to say, his beauty undermines even the most feminine grandeur. Also, Sakuno is the very first trap that isn't so lewd and slutty like the rest.
The story starts off simply with Sakuno confessing his love to Youta only to discover that his feelings are reciprocated. The story is indeed quite short but the attention paid to even the most finest detail gives birth to a fine piece of art. I simply love it. It's sweet, innocent and endearing in its own way. Contrary to what I've imagined beforehand, the story wasn't so intense or 'hardcore'. I'd heard rumors about Yaoi genre so I was skeptical in trying it out. But now I don't regret it.
I must say, the manga is nicely drawn. It's clearly top notch compared to any other mange I've ever read. I enjoyed looking at it. Therefore, the least I expect is that everyone who reads this manga will enjoy the art.
My honest opinion:
Tellingly, I'm straight. I'm being honest to all my readers that this is my first time reading a Yaoi manga. I've read it to the very end. Indeed its a short one but I enjoyed it to the last bit. Am I showing a sign of gayness? Not really. I've always been straight and always will be as long as I'm self-conscious. I've nothing against LGBT but I prefer to follow my instincts and nature. No need to put up lies, I actually imagined Sakuno as a girl right off the bat. Sakuno's face is really beautiful and cute and I don't see this as a problem if I imagine it like that. Even though it's labelled Yaoi, I still deem it romance. Because why not? romance genre has always been one of my favorite genre.
P.S I think this will be considered a spoiler but I will feel really guilty if i don't mention it at all: there will be a little sex scene in the manga. Young readers, please give this some thought.
