I only read a few chapters, so I cannot guide you guys through as much detail as I can.
WARNING: This manga contains shoujo, so if you don't like shoujo then this manga may not be for you.
This manga is set in the 19th to 20th century. So we can kind of see that the Japanese culture in this story is both western and traditional.
Basically the plot line is about a poor girl ("Chibi"), who saves the Houjou family's third daughter (Houjou Ran) from drowning. Originally, Houjou Ran was suppose to be the fiance of Tendou Masato from the Tendou family, but she refuses
to marry him as she knows that her life will be targeted due to their family dispute. In order to help Ran, "Chibi" decides be her replacement out of goodwill. However, her true identity was immediately discovered by Masato. Thus, the story continues...
This story may sound a little cliche, but it's a bit different compared to other shoujo manga. It's unique and I found it very amusing to read. But the reason for "Chibi's" goodwill is something that intrigues me the most.
I thought the art style was pretty good.
The female protagonist is drawn in a simple (yet cute) manner. The male protagonist, on the other hand, is drawn as a BISHIE XD. But when you read the manga he usually has a hat on, which gives him a more sadistic look.
As for the background, I could say it fairly detailed. I don't pay as much attention to it, but I do notice they have quite a few tones (effects) to suit the scene's mood.
CHARACTERS: 8 (I ONLY FOCUSED ON TWO CHARACTERS)
The main female character ("Chibi") is portrayed as a strong and dense (yet adorable) girl, which makes me hooked into reading this manga. Her goodwill and awesome actions makes this manga interesting to read.
Whereas, the male protagonist (Masato) is seen as a more sadistic-like and cool-looking character. Though he can be a jerk at some point, he can be a gentle person. (a hint of tsundere :3 )
I find this manga really adorable read due to the characters. Originally I was reading it on mangafox (only had 1 chapter), but because I wanted to read more I went to mangalator for more chapters. :'D
Overall, I found this manga exciting to read and give it 8/10. I recommend "Tendou-ke Monogatari" to those people who looking for:
- A SHOUJO AND HISTORICAL MANGA COMBINED
- A STRONG, yet NAIVE FEMALE PROTAGONIST who has a slight MOEEE character.
- A MALE PROTAGONIST that gives a sadistic vibe, but has a kind heart at some stage.
