Synopsis

Average, unremarkable Ai Maekawa navigates school life unnoticed... until one day when a spiteful classmate totally humiliates her in front of everyone. Determined to jettison her embarrassing past, she overhauls her image and enrolls at a new high school where no one knows the old Ai. From the start, Ai is the target of romantic advances and jealous gossip—can a formerly invisible girl handle this avalanche of attention? I really liked Doubt!! because it is such a unique shoujo. It’s definitely not a life-changing manga and it doesn’t take itself too seriously. But that’s what makes it so refreshing. As someone who has read A LOT of romance manga, especially shoujo, the formula can get repetitive. That’s why, I really appreciate these funny mangas that are so unique. It’s definitely a older manga, so be ready for that difference.

As for the comment about the manga pushing a negative message, I don’t really agree. I found the manga to be very satirical, almost a commentary on society. I mean society is not pretty and ...

First of all, let me just warn you that the plot is VERY superficial and 'fake', if you will. Story starts off with our main heroine as a nerd, ugly and fat. However, because of various reasons (shown in manga), she decides to attend a high school where none of her junior high friends are going in order to change her appearance from 'jimmy' to 'hot stuff'. I really wish I could say I liked this series- the art was good, and the main SIDE characters are likable, but I didn't. The plot itself was VERY superficial, and sent a VERY negative message towards its target audience. The message the plot was trying to give out is to get friends, and to get a boyfriend, that a girl must change not only her appearance(become 'beautiful'), but also her entire personality as well.
