Utilizing a system called "Sense," each player aims to create their unique character in the VRMMORPG "Only Sense Online." Joining this realm is Yun, an absolute beginner in the world of gaming, equipped with some of the worst customized "Sense" ever. While his two sisters, both veterans in this world, criticize his choices of equipment, he continues to delve into the skill sets he has acquired. Along his way, he meets the art of "production" and people that have mastered this art. Watch as a total novice creates a revolution in the gaming world and create the "ultimate" support class.
This is my first review however I felt this Manga was so good it needed one. I am writing my review based on the current latest chapter (chapter 25).
Story 9/10. Its a great story, the MC takes on what is known as the worst senses (traits) in the game and decides to become the ultimate support class, eventually it turns out the MC's combination may not be trash after all.
What you can expect is the MC to do loads of crafting, buying, and selling. This is still a VMMORPG so the MC does also fight. The MC is a solo player but has a
group of friends he helps and that help him from time to time, do not expect much fighting from the MC. If you are looking for a Manga with more fighting and action this is not for you, it is a relaxing look into VMMORPG's.
Art 8/10. I do not look at the quality of art much, as long as it is passable I am happy, however, this art is very good, really loving the art style.
Character 7/10. The MC is shown a lot (obviously) however the other characters are quite sparse, there are three crafting characters we will see repeatedly but outside of them we see his two sisters a few times. There is less focus on other characters in this manga hence why I rated it a 7. The character for the MC is good, as is cliché the MC is nice, takes care of others and is happy. Nothing bad to be said about his character.
Enjoyment 10/10. If you are in the mood for a nice relaxing Manga because you have had enough of big explosions, people dying or plot twists then Only Sense Online is for you.
The Manga goes at a nice pace and oddly enough just reading him craft is satisfying. I genuinely look forward to this Manga and so my enjoyment is 10.
Overall 9/10. If they focused more on the Character development of his two sisters and his friends it would make it a bit more enjoyable, as of now the other characters just pop in from time to time, I barely remember their names. But there is no doubt that this Manga is still good.
So this is my review, if you are looking for a nice relaxing Manga about VMMORPG then this is the one for you, the few fight scenes it does have are done quite well so there is still a lively aspect of action here.
This manga physically exhausted me, because of that I only managed to (force myself to) read 8 chapters. I honestly wanted to read a little more, and atone for the sins I committed in my past life by going through this torture, but I just couldn't. Let's dive in into the abomination that is Exposition: The Mang-uh, I mean, Only Sense Online manga...ahem.
There is no story when it comes to this manga. Just the MC logging into an online game and farming for loot to upgrade his skills (aka Senses). All chapters have basically the same 3 things: a) MC crafts potions or an
item while at the same time extensively talking to himself about every single process or skill that he uses (WARNING: This part is capable of inducing mild headaches due to the high amount of exposition). b) MC goes and sells them to a vendor, each time surprised at how much money he made only to later end up spending everything in a jiffy, he also sometimes discusses trading and economy (WARNING: This part, too, is capable of inducing mild headaches due to the high amount of exposition). c) MC chats with his friends about Senses, and they make fun of the terrible choices he's made in the game (WARNING: This part is also capable of inducing mild headaches due to the high amount of exposition). Rinse and repeat, over and over and over again.
Do not let the pretty manga covers trick you into reading this (like it did to me). While it may look pretty with color, Only Sense Online has some of the most generic character design and art I've ever seen in an isekai manga. While I do not have much to say about the copy-paste character art and design, I do have a some things to say about the backgrounds and environments: You know, I thought Re: Monster's artist was terrible at drawing environments, but OSO just takes incompetence to a whole new level. Background art is basically non-existent, and whenever the artist actually decides to draw something, it is so terrible that it makes me wonder how this was ever approved for serialization. Monsters designs are blocky and would be impossible to know what they actually are if there weren't helpful boxes with the monster names written in them. To give you an example, there was a chapter where the MC was shooting arrows at some birds, and I could've sworn they were seagulls...or something like seagulls...but then again, he was at the woods and seagulls don't live in the woods...I am honestly confused at what those things were. Anyway, buildings are somewhat better off than the monsters, but they are still far worse than anything I'd expect from a manga artist. Sloppy and rushed is what I would call them.
The characters would honestly be fine if not for the dizzying amount of exposition they offer every single time they appear. I'm serious, every time a character appears they start off by offering some random chat about a quest and stuff like that, and their conversation ALWAYS ends up with explaining how to craft something or enchant that other thing, or how Senses work, their various combinations etc. This manga is usually around 35 pages long, and you could spend more than half of each chapter, just reading explanations on how things work, just page after page after page of unrelenting exposition that is done solely through dialogue. It came to the point where I rolled my eyes every time any character appeared, cause I knew it was gonna end in some sort of long explanation about some mumbo-jumbo shit that would give me a headache.
No. No enjoyment. The only enjoyment I ever got from this manga was when I stopped reading it.
The story is non-existent and every chapter follows the same formula. The artist either doesn't bother to properly draw the background art even though he is serializing a monthly manga, or he's just plain incompetent at drawing. And the characters are only every used to offer exposition about this or the other while barely giving the reader any room to breathe.
I surprisingly enjoyed this. The first couple chapters aren't all that interesting, But it get's better.
The characters are pretty interesting and it doesn't really have any annoying characters.
Only thing that kind of bugs me is that i wish that this wasn't a game. When they come out of the game it really takes me out of the story. I wish it was something like maybe a god trapping them in a world based off the game with everyone having their characters as who they are.
When they are fighting or someone puts their life on the line to safe someone, It really isn't that
heart pounding because in the end it's just a video game.
I think if the people were playing and one day a god decides to bring everyone to a world with the same mechanics ( I.E Respawn, Quest, Health Bars) And everyone is now their character from ingame. Also keep the funny and goofy tone going for the story. Even if this sounds cliched, I think it would improve the story.
I do like the MC, But only when he is in his female avatar. I also like the MC's female avatar design.
There is also Magi. She is one of the better characters and i like that the MC and her kind of have a relationship going on. It's suggested multiple times and i would love it ( I think it'd be better if everyone was turned into their actual characters) Also who can say no to some Yuri action ?
