Synopsis

As an assistant to Sinnoh's resident Pokémon Professor, Mitsumi tirelessly cycles for an errand when she witnesses a peculiar sight—a horde of Eipam joined by a boy, Hareta, wearing nothing but shorts! Having the ability to develop special bonds with Pokémon ever since he was an infant, Hareta has lived with the creatures by the forest all his life, and as a result, knows little to nothing about human society.

When Doctor Nanakamado asks him if he would like to meet a god-like Pokémon called Dialga, Hareta enthusiastically accepts, setting out on his quest with Mitsumi and the prideful Water-type Pokémon Piplup by his side. However, Hareta and Mitsumi soon learn during their Gym Badge-collecting travels that they are not the only ones who wish to meet the Legendary Temporal Pokémon. A mysterious group called Ginga-dan has been doing horrible things to both humans and Pokémon, and the mastermind behind their agenda is a fearsome leader who threatens to seize Dialga's temporal powers all for himself.

This shit is hardcore, man. You think you understand Pokemon? Think again, motherfucker.

Yes, sometimes the humor feels a bit forced and can fall flat. Yes, it can be childish at times. Yes, the main character is a lot like Jaden Yuki.

But really, who cares?

This shit is amazing. Team Galactic gets a sinister as fuck portrayal in this manga and they feel like a threat. Don't believe me? Try volumes 4 and 5. Grimdark as fuck. It's not your typical story where the bad guys just try to defeat the MC's Pokemon so he'll leave them alone. Fuck that, these guys want him dead.

But yeah, ...

First of all I need to say that I didn't expect much from his manga when I first saw the cover but it surprised me quite positively.

Story: 8
This is the most impressing thing about that manga. When I played the d/p games Team Galactic I thought that they didn't act the way an evil organisation should and the manga managed it to make Team Galactic act more evil. Especially Cyrus seems to be the more insane and brilliant leader. Furthermore there were some pretty good plot twists which really surprised me.

The art is good, it's very different from th art of Pokemon Adventures ...

Released on the Nintendo DS over 15 years ago, Pokémon Diamond and Pearl have been beloved by many in the Pokémon fanbase, especially (and particularly) the enhanced third edition Pokémon Platinum. In response to nostalgia for these games reaching an all-time high, The Pokémon Company recently released two games for diehard Sinnoh fans—Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, a "faithful remake" of the original games, and Pokémon Legends: Arceus, a whole new open-world reimagining of Sinnoh set in the distant past. However, instead of revisiting generation 4 through these games, I personally chose to revisit a little-talked-about but related manga series that I had read ...
