The story follows a rookie cop named Taketora Shibata who, despite his childish looks of a middle-schooler, fights against juvenile crime and has the ability to see anything at a crime scene. Nevertheless, it's still a struggle to rise out of the ranks and become a real detective.

Shibatora was adapted into an 11-episode TV drama which aired from July 8, 2008 to September 16, 2008.

Summary: Good series with feel-good elements. If you want realistic reactions then it all goes downhill in the final arc. -2 points for the final arc. Worth reading but prepare for disappointment towards the end.

Edit: The ending arc ticked me off which affected my review, so here is an updated review.

If you are a fan of good-hearted naive main characters then this is for you. If you are more realistic and is not a fan of soft hearted and naive MCs (to the detriment of other people) then this is not for you. If you are a believer in that people can change read more

Shibatora is an average detective manga, and that is okay because this manga is pretty fluctuative in its aspects.

Story: 7/10
The story of Shibatora has its highs and lows. Some of the arcs have lazy conclusions, to the point that it is quite forced. I particularly hated the reveal and conclusion of the final confrontation of the final arc. However, I like the overall story structure and how it rarely has any plot holes. I also think the culmination of Taketora's story was kinda neat; after being blessed/cursed with the 'hands of death' throughout the whole manga, he acquired the 'hand of life' at the very read more

This is about a detective in youth department who looks like a middle schooler.

The story is great. Its as good as other mystery stories but not only some serious mystery about solving murder cases. Its about helping teenagers.

Art is also great. Characters are good. Only rarely, they're disappointing. Also it can be enjoyed by all. Wether you're a romance fan, mystery fan or action fan, this manga will entertain you until the end (its still ongoing by translators :P)

Overall, its an OUTSTANDING manga. Totally worth reading.

I always was curious what this manga was about and i have to say after hours of reading it i absolutely love it. It's unique and it's something you rarely see.Definitely unlike any other manga/anime i have ever seen. It shows the realism in life and it has motivated me to also help my fellow teens in my generation and the next. I feel like going out there. I love the humor and the romance, i just wish it was longer or still on going. I guess i have grown attach to these characters that i am not ready to say good bye lol
