Synopsis

One day, a four-year-old boy came to a sudden realization: the world is not fair. Eighty percent of the world's population wield special abilities, known as "quirks," which have given many the power to make their childhood dreams of becoming a superhero a reality. Unfortunately, Izuku Midoriya was one of the few born without a quirk, suffering from discrimination because of it. Yet, he refuses to give up on his dream of becoming a hero; determined to do the impossible, Izuku sets his sights on the elite hero training academy, UA High.

However, everything changes after a chance meeting with the number one hero and Izuku's idol, All Might. Discovering that his dream is not a dead end, the powerless boy undergoes special training, working harder than ever before. Eventually, this leads to him inheriting All Might's power, and with his newfound abilities, gets into his school of choice, beginning his grueling journey to become the successor of the best hero on the planet.

For someone getting into the manga or anime scenery, this is a series that I believe they'd especially love. It has come off as beginner friendly for those just starting out.

--Story--
Kohei Horikoshi has done an excellent job of creating new and creative plots throughout the series. The way the story has been written, it doesn't fall apart. It provides room for side stories that allow us to witness greater character development as well as giving each character appropriate attention that will contribute to the overall plot. It is unlike other typical Shounen titles that can repeat the same plot formula repeatedly until the end of ...

Mixed Feelings
Preliminary (407/? eps)
My Hero Academia is your typical light-hearted series, but actually is backed by a lot a deepening of a lot of characters that gives the series a more mature look.
The story starts off really slowly, with things that everybody has seen already in other Shonens, but the character designs, the relations and their motivations, pushes you to keep reading. It may seem childish at first but it has a lot of mature themes.
That being said, some chapters are a chore to get through. The series' named "My Hero Academia" and the "academia" part is really where the show slows down in order to make ...

Preliminary (396/? eps)
My Hero Academia was my favorite anime/manga when I was newer to the mediums. It incorporated elements with strong appeal to my tastes. I am a sucker for characters who overcome some inherent disadvantage they have by thinking outside the box, and cutesy low stakes slice of life stuff. Both of these are staples of the early series, and led me to falling in love with the characters. As I've read more though, three major cracks have become too noticeable for me to enjoy this story like I used to.

My first major complaint is that the author is good at introducing likeable characters, but fails ...
