Don't read it, or skip the first 7 chapters. You could probably get a grasp of the story pretty easily. The author has clearly not played an MMORPG before and creates contrived controversy. I did like the overall synergy with the MC's ability, but the author will probably say: "Oh look! Look at how powerful this synergy is!", and then rub it in your face.
THIS REVIEW CONTAINS DESCRIPTIONS OF THE SKILLS AND REFERENCES TO GAMES AND SHOWS YOU MIGHT NOT LIKE.
1. People love to craft, cook, and do dumb stuff in MMORPGs. If anyone makes a VRMMO where there's a realistic sense of taste and
...
smell, I will bet all my money that a lot of people are going to get the cooking skill. What's with this contrived scenario where nobody takes such obvious skills?
2. "The problem with archery is aiming, since there's no automatic targeting system." There are so many people who want to challenge themselves and be completely garbage at it. You see a majority of League players prefer Mid or ADC, people taking carry in DotA, people loving and playing StarCraft passionately, or Age of Empires 2, or Warcraft 3. So to say that nobody will take archery because it requires skill is stupid. It follows up by saying that it only does 75% of the damage from a one-handed sword . . . Ranged is supposed to do less damage than melee, 75% is pretty good.
3. You see the obvious trope of stupid thugs walking up to the Main Character and making fun of this or that. Many writers have done it in a brilliant way, but unfortunately, this was not brilliant. This was just run of the mill stupid. Normally, I don't care about tropes that
4. The rest of the explanations as to why the skills were not taken by other people was just not reasonable. If you stealth more than 10 seconds it costs more. 10 seconds is enough for someone to go in, steal, and get out. Wind magic is bad at healing and attacking. Dear God! If you've read a few novels or thought about it, then you'd find that wind magic is absolutely busted, especially when paired with certain skills. The author treats his or her readers like idiots.
Now, I'm sure that it could very well get better later on. However, the quality of this work is like watching episode 3 of World Trigger all over again: a slow slideshow that drowns you in disappointment. There are many really good novels out there that have way less traction, it disappoints me that people even mention this one.
