WARNING: SPOILERS TOWARDS END OF REVIEW!
So, I saw there was no reviews about this manga and just had to put one here partly as a warning but also in order to vent my frustrations.
This manga is truly awful, one of the worst I've ever come across. Honestly, I didn't think there could be manga this bad until I read this one, I just assumed every manga was at least of average quality. I was proved wrong.
"In a bizarre twist, Satoki and her classmate, Haruka Toudou, are dragged into another universe. The denizens of this new world are searching for their savior: the "Holy
Maiden," an otherworldly woman with extraordinary powers. Though they were both summoned, Haruka’s beauty leads to the assumption that she is the true heroine. Unbeknownst to them, Haruka does not possess the Holy Maiden's powers, but Satoki does not want to break the illusion.
Satoki does not mind being a bystander, concealing the truth from everyone—even Haruka. Believing herself unworthy, Satoki will do whatever it takes to make Haruka appear to be the savior the world has always wanted."
The story starts out well enough but then it just gets confused along the way. Honestly, one of the most frustrating parts were the main character. I didn't have a problem with her being "average" and not "heroine-like" but it was just painful how low her self-esteem was. I get that that was the point but it was just constantly drilled into you as you read. You just kept getting reminded of how ugly she was, how bad and lacking she was in every aspect by herself along with basically every other character in the story. It was just not fun to read.
See, I thought that the story was going to go somewhere. That it in the end was going to show us that you don't have to be the prettiest or smartest or whatever out there in order to have value, some kind of message about self-love. But no, in the end, there was no such message. She just traveled back home and that was it. No character growth or anything, no payoff whatsoever. It was so anticlimactic and frustrating. It felt like I had wasted so much time.
