Inubuse Kuromu aspired to be King in Chess. He was so skilled he represented Japan in the World Youth Chess Championship at age 11; however, due to his loss to a mysterious, wolf-like player, he developed a condition where he couldn't sit in front of anyone?! Because of this condition, he stopped playing Chess and chose to solely focus on his studies until his fingers broke. Three years since his loss, while desperately still holding onto his title as 'King' through internet Chess, he meets an incredibly strong opponent. This game starts his tale to become King.

A manga about chess is something that you don't see every day and this manga handles it decently.

The story begins quite oddly, but the manga picks up significantly after the first chapter. The story is quite interesting however the only problem with that is that even though its a chess manga, the part with the 'chess' isn't very interesting. Meaning that the chess seemed like more of a backdrop to the actual story.

However, the story is engaging as the main protagonist continues to grow and face his fears. A well crafted story, my only complaint about this manga is the fact that the exaggerate read more

Chrono Monochrome is a manga about chess, with some time travel and shonen-elements. I had good expectations when I started reading it, I enjoy stories with time travel and chess is an interresting topic. So I thought it could only be good but I was wrong, this manga is shit.

Story (7):
The story has potential it could easily be a really good manga, however the author has managed to fuck it up and made it extremely ridiculous, exaggerated and retarded. Just by reading the first chapter, you can only wonder what kind of shit the author smoked.

Art (7):
Art is fine, probably the only good read more
