I was looking for some fap material when I stumbled upon this. Then I got hooked and forgot my original "goal".
The story: is frustrating at times but it gave me some strong feelings that even real life people haven't. It could be because I haven't read many romance manga though. One thing I don't like is that sometimes the author get lazy and create events that are too convenient to solve the problems instead of a step-by-step progress.
The art is great except for the males characters being a bit too "shoujo" for a shounen manga.
The characters: Well. This is where readers divide. First discussion point

*mild not-plot related spoilers*
I've updated this review now that I've finished the series. The ending will be touched in its own section at the end. Story: 6 I think it was at its best when it was basically a slice of life story, with just a stronger focus on romance than most. The interactions between characters were well handled, the plot wasn't overly complicated(minus the incest), and while following obvious cliches, it wasn't all that bad. I actually quite enjoyed how the story chose to continue further after high school, which is where most romance stories tend to end. The story was good while the characters were ... Jun 23, 2020
Domestic Girlfriend (DG for short) is a series that I picked up one day on a whim after seeing a trailer for it on YouTube. I went into it without looking up a synopsis, and had no idea what I was getting myself into. And boy, was it one hell of a ride.
I've had my ups and downs with this series, mostly relating to shitty waifu wars that, with time, I grew out of, and came to love this for it's story and presentation instead of just a batch of characters. This series is controversial, both for it's initial premisce and ending (we'll get onto ... Jul 28, 2015
So this is going to be a review of the manga so far (58 chapters), so my opinions/criticisms of this manga can easily change by the time this manga ends.
Story: Oh man, if you're a dude who loves a good romance with some great ecchi, this manga will most likely hook you in INSTANTLY. The first chapter really slaps the reader in the face with some things you wouldn't really expect from a typical school, romance, comedy manga. However, if you're not hooked by the first chapter, I think you should probably refrain from reading this manga cuz the first chapter pretty much sets ... Jan 31, 2025
It’s like a unicorn —at first, it seems amazing. You’re like, ‘Wow, this is great!’ The unicorn’s got sparkles rainbows, and magic, you’re convinced everything’s going to be perfect. But then, halfway through, you realise it’s actually just eating all the food, gave you covid, and that our lord and most gracious Bukayo Saka (the goat) gets injured. I hate this manga so much. I love this manga so much. Truly the greatest piece of fiction of all time, Shakespeare could never.
Story is completely unpredictable at times, completely predictable at others. This is done beautifully sometimes. terribly other times. I love this art style. Many of ... Jun 22, 2020
This manga has some truly beatiful momments of growth, change, love and hate. For 270 chapters the characters are routinly placed in bizzare and unrealistic scenarios and yet they routinely behave realistically and predictibly. If this was where the manga ended it would be a great story but Sasuga had to end the manga elsewhere.
The ending is now infamous and outisde a few hardcore Hina shippers widely unpopular. Essentailly the characters dissolve in the last six chapters in the most unrealistic ways. Their actions are no longer driven by their emotions but the authors voice as she desperatly tries to shoe horn themes that were ... Jan 28, 2019
i guess i'll be writing a review for this. after spending my weekend just to read through chapter 212 from scratch, i think i have quite things to say.
well the anime adaptation is on air so due to the fact that i'm a bit persistent, i've decided to read the manga so here's what i got. i don't think i have a strong obsession with a manga that has this genre before. well if you look at it in general, it's just your typical romance / drama manga. i dont blame you to think like that bcs theres alot manga that has similar vibes but since ... It's pretty saddening to see so many bad reviews about this manga while not really even talking about much of what it does well. Given first hand experience with the fandom, I got to see what waifu wars does to it, how shipping goggles make a reader ignore key parts of the story or misinterpret them entirely, then rather than try to understand the themes presented, the decisions & feelings of the characters, complaining & even ranting is preferred - talk about taking the easy path, but it is how it is.
But enough about that, as this has become one of my all-time favorite manga, ... Jan 26, 2017
This is my first manga review, and I'm writing this because there's not enough feedback for this amazing series,so far I've read 126 chapters (only 90 translated),so let's begin.
Story: 8/10 Intense drama, suspense and touching moments is what defines Dome X Kano. As the story develops the characters truly evolve, so the reader is sure to constantly change his/her point of view about their relationships, most of them taboo, creating a constant tension through the narrative that sometimes it get's countered by comedic chapters, that in reality build the path for a new drama. But some filler chapters, mostly the last ones, in my opinion are only ... Jul 4, 2018
This manga will always hold a special place in my heart. It is surely no less than a masterpiece. I couldn’t stop reading once I started. It really set itself apart from the rest. It shined in all its aspect as a manga. Art, Creativity, Entertainment, and Story is masterfully done. One of the best if not the best romance manga out there. It really pulls on the heartstrings and will surely make you fall in love with the characters. I can’t recommend this manga enough.
It really emphasizes on how strong and unconditional love is. A deep story of forbidden yet not forbidden love. A ... Nov 26, 2022
Dome x Kano is the first Manga I properly read, and it's also one of the best things I have read in a while. It's unique. The first 72 chapters were the peak of the story in my opinion they were full of excitement and kept you on edge I would easily give those a 10/10 masterpiece rating. The rest of the story is still good, however, I believe it struggles with pacing. If you do have the time I think it's still an enjoyable experience. The art is just amazing and the author didn't cut corners when showing our favorite scenes. The problems with

(Slight spoilers for the ending)
We got an identity fraud case on Kei Sasuga, because for some reason, her writing has explosively gotten better. DnK was not a waste of time and is honestly a 10/10 masterpiece. Probably the GOAT of endings tbh. Right up there with DitF. No, who am I kidding, leagues beyond even that. In all honesty, it’s amazing how you can go from a pretty decent drama manga to one of the most convoluted and disrespectful (to it’s OWN source material) endings I’ve ever seen. How do you develop one character or relationship for 200+ chapters only to throw it all away in ... May 18, 2023
(op 18 months later: what was i on when i wrote this? anyway still great manga go read!!!)
Do not listen to what other reviewers say about this manga. Try it out for yourself. Read at least a bit before going straight to the conclusion that this manga is bad. It is an odd one, but it is definitely one worthwhile reading. Thoughts (tiny bit of spoilers): The anime did not do justice to such a great manga. Though the anime faithfully adapted most of the first 70 chapters, it did leave out a few important character arcs. The first 100 revolves around the conflict between the sisters, ... Jan 20, 2024
Okay, hear me out:
Interpersonal connections filled with despair, hatred, jealousy and scrutiny? This manga is so much more than just a fucked up family (except for the parents, they are good people), it conveys what it means to love, how to express love and most importantly: Growth. I haven't come across anything else that so masterfully depicts the journey of character growth. Everything happens for a reason and after finishing it I can confidently say that it is indeed a masterpiece, deserving a 10/10. MAL still wants me to write something so I'll just mention best girl: Hina Fucking loved the way she was portrayed and what she did, ... Nov 7, 2020

First Please Don't read this Manga, Its a dumpster fire you wont be able to drop You know its going to bad and messed up yet you will continue and keep asking yourself, why am I still Going why? This manga has its good moments and God I love Momo but still cant justify its ending wth was that? This Manga is Fucked up, the main character is a nice guy but he cant keep his dick in his Pants he fucks his step sister 1 and step sis 2 (but declines girls, who aren't related to him even if they want too) he isn't ... My Overall Rating is 9. I would give it a 10 also. Its because in my 10 years of Anime and Manga Experience, I haven't read such a Fantastic Drama. First of all, there are people who are Light hearted and can't take Deep dramas like this. I don't know why people rated it a 2 or 3.
To me, this Manga has totally ripped my heart, slowly made my heart recovered, fully recovered my heart and then ripped it apart again. There's a Continuous toll on Drama. But still it never gets bored. It is so impactful with the sadness and slight comedy that it ... Jul 30, 2020

------------------------------------------SPOILERS AHEAD---------------------------------------------- After reading the entire full tale of this so called "Domestic Girlfriend" i have come to several conclusions. The first thing that came to my mind when i finished reading this manga was: "And so that was it ?" , don't get me wrong i loved and cherished this story until the very end for various reasons, but i ... A Small and a final edit after completing the manga 276 chapters/ and the extra ones.
The final few chapters of this manga were mind blowing for me, I already started to imagine the ending for this manga in my mind, but then everything turned upside down, it was unexpected turn in the manga, which gave us this unexpected ending, I didn't like the ending at all to be honest , It was like all the story and the characters development that started from chapter 1 were destroyed in 5 chapters, But still I enjoyed this manga for more than 265 chapter and Im not going ... I've only been using MAL to track which anime/manga I've read/want to read, but after seeing all the negative reviews on this manga, I've decided to write my first review. I still have a small pool (sink?) of manga I have read so maybe that's why I like it so much. I'll try and keep this review as spoiler free as possible.
Story - 7 Even though many of the super bad reviews have some good points, I personally still liked this manga. After all, I did decide to read the manga after finishing the anime because I was so intrigued in what was going to happen. ... Jun 29, 2020
Okay so this might be my first time writing a review, so i wouldnt mind if you will find this bias or crap because of it, but its just my opinnion. Warning: You might get spoiled if you read my review, so read at your own risk.
Story: 10/10 So at first looking at the story. It you might think this came out straight out of a webtoon since its not realistic since the MC (Fuiji Natsuo) who was a ordinary student with a dream of becoming a professional novelist who had a crush on his Teacher (Hina Tachibana) and after hearing some rumors regarding of ... |
