Amazing and brilliant story. I'm surprised a manga that was read and rated by so many users hasn't been reviewed. I decided to throw in my two cents.
Well I like this story. It starts off with a young girl named Miu who has a crush on her classmate, an ultra hottie named Amimya. All the girls like him and he even has a fan club and happens to be a Christian. It would seem that the students actually go to a Christian, possibly Catholic or some sort of Missionary school---since a lot of time is spent in the school's
Church. The school's Church is guarded and maintained by Amimya's family and himself. Well the girl has a crush and does the unthinkable and goes to a book store and buys a book of magic to get Amimya's love. Yup, she does a love spell. Love spell happens to actually call on the Devil himself called Akuma. I love Akuma's character and I'll get into that later. Akuma declares that he'll grant her wish as long as she pays him by giving up her virginity to him. At first she thinks its a dream but wakes up with Satan's mark on her shoulder and him in her life. She makes the deal and ends up finding, probably a month later, that Satan has taken the role as Kai her older brother and his pet crow, Malphas, was given the name Tsubasa and is passing as her younger brother.
Satan saw that he was able to manipulate everyone in the school and even her family easily into thinking he's her family and sees none of his magic/deeds seemed to work on Amimya. Confrontation erupts and you find out taht Amimya is actually something else. The story then really starts picking up and developing at that point.
You have Akuma the Devil very out of character for any other story. He doesn't do misdeeds and is seen as misunderstood, rather than evil. He does take advantage of a young girl, but she also has deep feelings for him. He's dynamic, persuasive and sensual. One thing to note is that there is smut in this, but it's defintely romantic. I don't see it as one of those domineering males who are taking advantage of women.
That is actually something that I wanted to commend the author about. The story had a lot of funny, quirky moments, which is surprising given the topic. The lead girl, Miu, even when she gets silly at times, she actually is a very strong character. She's not easily malleable and she's quite opinionated and strong willed. I was impressed, consdering I thought she would be continously abused; don't get me wrong, it's in there, just not as much as I would have expected. She is a reluctant participate in sexual acts but then becomes rather proactive.
The story is actually quite great and I plan on reading the authors other many mangas. Currently her most popular story was Kaikan Phrase, so for those watching the series you know the manga was great (and popular) and this is no different. She's extremely talented and she's definitely got me as a fan. I think most people will enjoy it and most definitely if you don't mind smut and learning a bit about occult topics. Plus if you're a Christian, such as myself you'd already know some of the terminology or most. I knew all of them, but it was great that the author took the time out to do her homework.
On a last note because of Kaikan Phrase and this story, I can note the author loves extremely strong, mysterious males who fall in love deeply and when they are with their women, are nearly obssessed but never to the point of ridiculously abusive as can be found in many yaoi mangas or other domineering male mangas. Plus, you can expect much smut in her work, although I do see it as just people being in a romantic/intimate relationship. Not just random or forced sex, although some level of violence or urgency (roughness) that could appear as violence is in the love making of the characters.
Nice job and I can't wait to read more. I'm sure people will enjoy this and I totally recommend it.
I'm giving this manga a review because someone needs to balance things around here. This manga is not what you'd call good. It is, though, hilarious. Also, it's quite metal, in a way.
Manga is entertainment and there are many ways to be entertained. In this case, you'll enjoy the story if you like to laugh out loud at bad dialogue, stupid character decisions and general youthfulness in immortal characters. The completely cliche plot and trope characters make the dialogues and situations so much fun you won't drop it until you finish reading.
Then you'll go and write a review like this one.
As for art, the
less is said the better (though the boys are cute).
Overall: you might have fun (as I did), but it'll probably just be a waste of precious time. Unless you're very into BDSM.
PS: If you do read it, I dare you not to shout "SATAN!" whenever the main character does. It's compelling.
I can not say enough about this Manga. I LOVED IT!!!
Romance. Mysterious characters. Hot Devil Bad Boy. Steamy love scenes and romance that actually made my heart skip a beat.
The Story is about a girl who falls in love with a guy at school. He is popular and purer than the first snow, so of course she doesn't believe she can get him on her own. She works a spell and calls upon a Devil to make her wish come true. But there is a price to be paid ... and the Devil doesn't share.
The art was beautiful, truly talented. The
story was unique and i have never routed for the devil so hard in my life. The characters were intriguing and i fell in love with everyone of them.
Nothing and no one are as they seem, Truth is in the eye of the beholder, and Love transcends beyond the very gates of heaven and earth.
If you like romance, the supernatural, bad boys, and do not mind a few steamy love scenes...then this manga is a Must Read!!!
Note: Some cussing ahead so for those who dislike that, don't read.
= Story =
- This is the story right here: Girl falls for Satan who is sexually attracted to the girl who gets too involved with her to the point where an angel tries to get her away from Satan. That's it. The plot is basically the idea of what happens to Miu b/c she's involved with Satan. I really didn't like it.
And yes, I did read ALL the chapters. I barely made through those appalling chapters. So the story is just... just bad. I wish the mangaka had put some more thought into this
manga. The idea is quite nice, but how it played out throughout the story was absolutely dreadful! -
= Art =
- I've said this a lot, but I usually give art a 9 or 10. But I gave this one an 8. However, this is solely based on my preference and logic. Usually I just go plain common sense, but the mangaka's art style is quite similar to old schooled manga which isn't my cup of tea. Maybe it's b/c I'm used to modern manga styles, but I generally don't like these types of art. However, since I can't draw better, the score will remain at an 8. -
= Character =
- Comedy is not a genre in this manga, but I really laughed my fucking ass off while reading this. What the characters say and do are HILARIOUS. I'm not laughing at the characters themselves. This is basically what I laughed at:
> The characters' mental states
> Satan's cheesy lines (dramatized by the art)
> Miu's stupidity
> The amount of sex Miu and Satan have
> The fact that Satan fucked Miu into front of ------- *spoiler*---------
> The dramatized affects the art gives to every undramatic situation
I didn't care for the characters. Miu is literally one of those Shoujo heroines that can't do shit and just depend on that one guy (or guys) that are there doing whatever she wants. She's useless and yet there are these people who pursue her! It's absurd. Satan says he loves her and shit, but honestly, he's just playing along for her body (even though there isn't much...)
Satan himself is also a boring character. I don't like him. I don't like any of the characters. I just read it b/c I could. So yeah... horrid.... just.... bad. -
= Enjoyment/Overall =
- Didn't enjoy this manga at all. Got a lot of good laughs, but I really, really feels disgust towards this manga. I really recommend it for the laugh, but if you don't like humor, don't even try to read this. Also, read this and yell Satan when he appears to save the day. It'll make you laugh harder. -
Akuma na Eros is really one of those stories that any shojo fan should be reading just at least once.
The story is about Miu who is a girl hating on her childish features. She wanted to be with Shion, the most popular guy in her school. She thought that she can use a spell to get him to fall in love in her but instead she summon the devil who will help her get the boy of her dreams in return, she gives her virginity to him. One thing I praise the story for is the funny and quirky moments that really stands
out. The plot goes as a very good pace and the idea of the devil falling in love with a human is really original. Another thing that I'm surprise at is that it show a little abuse which is really nice. The only thing I can point out is the topic of occult and christian related themes. Now I'm a bit of a christian myself but this didn't bother me but I think it will to others. But if you can ignore that part then this is a story that is well made which is the reason why I'm not docking points.
For art it really is drawn well. The characters look really good as expected since they are pretty boys and beautiful looking girls. The backgrounds look nice enough but its a little rough to see what it is at times. So overall the art is nice to look at.
Miu is a really strong character in my opinion. While she does act silly she is very strong hearted and plus she is not manipulated as easy as you think. I love the fact that she is proactive to the sexual acts the Akuma makes on her. Speaking of Akuma he is a lot different as we all know how the devil is. But he really is likable with his charming seductive ways. But develop feeling for her which really is interesting to see why. Shion is what you expect from an angel and does try to protect Mui from the devil. There really isn't much to say about him at least in my eyes. The side character are ok as the Akuma assistant, Marupasu is mostly there for comedic re leaf but has some good charms but he is not in the story that much other then to inform him of whats going on. But he does shows more about him in the bonus chapter which is nice. And the other love rival, Serra is just use to be as a love rival as there really isn't that much about her. So overall the characters are really a good bunch to see.
I really think everybody should read this if you are in to supernatural and romance fantasies. I really believe that this could work well in a anime but that will never happen....HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH.
I gave this manga a rating of "good" only because the concept was interesting. Other than that, I would say its just "fine." Something to read when you're bored and feel like reading something for the sake of just reading something.
The concept of the whole story is pretty interesting. A young girl is manipulated into making a deal with the devil to get her crush to notice her...that is how it all begins. Now I would like to say where the rest of the story goes, but I think there was an element of surprise in how things progressed so I will refrain. However,
I like how layers and layers were added to the original plot. That is what made the story interesting. It has quite a few biblical references and creates conflict between the concept of evil and good in a romantic way.
With that being said, this story lacks a lot. Firstly, there is not much depth at all. The dialogue between the characters is quite cheesy and as some others said, comical. The characters lack the complexity that a story like this would require to make it epic. It is all pretty basic and bland, so don't expect much. It sucks to say that because again, I really think the concept was the best part, but it lost the potential to be awesome because of how basic and quick everything was.
The art style really is not bad, I don't think there was much issue with this. It was easy to follow along, and the panel was done properly.
The characters, you have one bad guy, one good guy, one naive girl and a crow. There is not much else to say, nothing too major with these characters because they do follow their typical roles.
Like I said, this story had major potential but it wasn't executed that well, with that being said, it was not horrible.
I loved this manga! I was the second Manga that I ever read and I'm hooked to it for life.
A beautiful story of a girl who wants nothing but love from the "Prince" in school. With very little confidence in herself she calls upon the Devil to grant her Wish. There is a price to paid for her love and gets more than she bargened for.
I think this is a brilliant story of Love, Lust, Bad Boys, Typical Prince Charming and Rivalry.
I would recommened this anyone. The art is great, the characters beautiful and the love scences just take your breath away. I have read
this manga more than once and everytime I'm not disappointed.
100% pure genius!! 10 out of 10 from me ;)
I loved this manga. This manga holds a very special place in my heart because it was the first manga I completed and what got me so hooked on manga. Satan seemed so sad and lonely to me. And he got his very own heroine who refused to give up on him.
I'll admit, in the beginning Miu kind of annoyed me (as with most female characters), but she gradually warmed-up to me, I hate to admit.
I didn't think I would like this manga with the (religious) tones, but I did. One thing I love is when a manga exceeds my expectations. I honestly did
not expect to like this story as much as I did.
There were so many things to love about this book. I will definitely re-read this some day!

So I just finished Akuma na Eros and I have to say I really liked it! :D
Though there was some predictable parts, it kept me entertainted and I found the story heart warming and funny.
In my opinion the characters are likeable and seems true to themselves throughout the story.
It is quite a short read, which I think is refreshing. Alot of mangas goes on long after the original plot is over and drops in quality. At no point does the pacing feel rushed or dragged out and though I find myself wishing it was longer(because it's so good :P), I know
it has the perfect lenght.
I wouldn't call it a masterpiece, but definitely worth a read!
What do you get when you mix together a considerable amount of smut, sexy demons and angels, and a hormonal teenage virgin? You get 'Akuma na Eros', a cautionary tale of why desperate, love-obsessed teenage girls should not have access to demon-summoning materials.
Story - 5/10
Mayu Shinjo's works can be summed up in two words: "schoolgirl smut", all following roughly the same script: the teen protagonist meets a mature, hot guy who is attracted to her (most of the time literally) virginal naivete, with their "love story" consisting of the guy basically assaulting her as often as he can until she ultimately gives in and they
have sex (more often than they already did).
'Akuma na Eros' is no exception: this time, the story has a supernatural twist to it, as Miu makes a pact with Satan himself to get Shion-senpai to notice her. Naturally, the centerpiece of the manga is the love triangle between Miu, Satan and Shion, with the Miu/Satan side being significantly more lewd and prominent than the Miu/Shion one. The plot is built on and moved forward by the romance aspect, with very little outside intervention from other characters.
Characters - 4/10
Miu starts off as very much another instance of the "pure, naive shoujo heroine" stereotype (sometimes too naive to be believable), and doesn't stray much past that. Satan stays the same throughout the entire manga, with a sleazy, confident macho grin plastered on 99% of the time. Shion is the nice guy who ends up forgettably bland in comparison, although he gets considerably more interesting near the end of the manga. There isn't really any character development, unless you count Miu giving in to Satan's seduction as "development".
Art - 7/10
The art is honestly pretty good. While you can only tell all of Shinjo's characters apart from each other by their hairstyles, a smutty shoujo story demands hot guys and a cute protagonist, and 'Akuma na Eros' delivers on that front. Miu is appropriately adorable and Satan has a sultry stare to pierce the Heavens, though Shion has a bit too "sharp" a look compared to his gentle personality, and the necks of the male characters made me go "hmmm" occasionally.
Enjoyment - 5/10
I would say 'Akuma na Eros' works as a decent introduction to Shinjo, and is one of her best works; she doesn't try to stretch the plot too far, like in 'Haou Airen', and the amount of smut and cheese here is so big that the religious aspect is just a convenient plot device used in order to get a boring, love-obsessed high school girl to bone the Devil. What can I say, it's a guilty pleasure for me.
Overall - 6/10
If you haven't read anything else by Shinjo, the recycling of plots and characters won't be as bothersome. Ultimately, you can take it as a parody of the smut subgenre, since it throws so many cliches of the genre at you that you'll need a few moments for everything to sink in. But if you're not a fan of brainless smutty shoujo, I doubt you will enjoy this.
