Emergence, or Henshin, or even Metamorphosis. Is a manga written by ShindoL. And it seems that my man ShindoL here is notorious for making tragedy mangas and this one is not an exception. I'd have to say that this is one of the best hentai I have ever read, in fact I would consider it a masterpiece.

-The story-
The story is just fucking amazing, bravo, magnifico, impeccable, sugoi, incroyable and put more praise words from all languages here. This shit is like The Godfather of Hentai. It just shows how a tragedy hentai is supposed to be done perfectly. The character development of Saki, how she ... transformed from an innocent girl to a corrupted thot (excuse my ghetto language there) is perfect, I have nothing to say that could probably improve the story. The sex scenes are just umm... meh, I think. It serves only as a filler, at least for me anyway. This is one of those hentai that the story outshines the sex and not many hentai do that. The story crushes your emotions and it already does that since the beginning, and when you think the story couldn't get any more worse, my nigga ShindoL here quickly proves just how fucking wrong you are. The story also gave me a new perspective in life, there are a actual women out there who have been in Saki's position, and the thought of something Saki experienced in the story has also probably happened in real life, hmm... it fucks me up man.

I probably missed a few but I think it's enough to tell you what you are up for. The sex scenes doesn't really arouse me, probably because I'm already busy crying from my eyes rather than from my genitals.

-The art-
The art is great, props to the artist for his job in drawing Saki because she's one of the hottest characters I seen in a while. She stays hot even in her miserable states later in the story. The artist also did a great job in drawing the background. While for the men, I don't really have much to say.

-The characters-
The personalities of each character is depicted nicely, it's not your typical "make all men horny and rapey" type of shit. Also, how Saki's personality and moral gets more and more degenerated throughout the story and how well done it is depicted is a big plus from me.

-The enjoyment-
I didn't start to enjoy the story until chapter 3 where everything started going tits up and Saki's life started going downhill from there. The more I read, the more I get immersed in the story and how I get more and more emotionally attached to Saki. The ending is where it fucks me up, although I was kind of expecting that kind of ending, how it was brought up was really soul crushing and very depressing. Poor Saki-chan.

Overall, I give this a strong ten. This is an example of how a tragedy hentai should be done. This is like (more analogies coming) the Illmatic of tragedy hentai, the Shawshank Redemption of tragedy hentai, the Sgt. Peppers of tr- Uhh.. A-Alright, alright, I'll stop with the analogies there.

I recommend this to anyone who wants to experience the feeling of being very attached to the protagonist or If you just like the idea of an innocent girl becoming corrupted.

I don't know but for some reason i just want to drop a review of this manga here.

I found this manga like two years ago but didn't read it, so i'm really late with this review.

It felt like i'm the only person who hasn't read this, so i just kinda half-jokingly decided to read this. And in the end i just couldn't stop reading this...

And that wasn't because it was good. No, the opposite it was BAD but i still just couldn't defeat my curiousness. So i read and read until it was over, it took me about 2 hours. I started this in midnight ... and finished at 2 am.

It was definitely one hell of a experience.

I'm not gonna give any specific rating on story,art,character and enjoyment for this manga. Because i feel like it's the right thing to do with this manga.



The story is very sad, i think that's what we all can agree to. From the beginning to the near end, i thought this manga was just made to be grose and brutal without any good story. Like pretty much all hentai (except vanilla) i've watched.
But i took me quite long to understand that this story is actually pretty interesting and also realistic. I really think that the life of a prostitute with bad circumstances wouldn't be far away from this. At the end of the series i really felt bad for Saki from what she had to go through.
In the end, your own decisions are always the most crucial thing.


I really feel like the all the characters were just meant to be hated except Saki whom i just couldn't hate. Saki claims herself to be a weak person and in the end, she really was. You can see that she was almost like brainwashable, from the start to end. But if she would've not been so naive and made the right decisions she obviously wouldn't be that weak of a person. I gotta say one more thing about the characters. Her mother... what a wise person. I gotta say if i would have a 16 year old son and he would have intercourse with my wife... Of course i would beat the shit out of him. I don't know if Saki's dad ''raping'' Saki was his somewhat plan to get rid her or just wanting to claim his daughters virginity to him (which he failed, was too late) because his wife wasn't virgin when they had their first time. But anyway that was the moment that i almost stopped reading but.... nope i decided to just move on.


The artstyle was pretty good not gonna lie. I respect Shindo L as an artist but not because of this work...


My enjoyment changed quite often during the time i read this manga. I would describe it as a horrified yet curious experience. This one really reminded of school days but with opposite gender and a bit more extreme. Although Makoto had sex just for fun and Saki did it for money and i guess fun as well. By curiousness i don't mean it's exactly good because now i really start to question my own life decisions by deciding to read this manga.


Overall i still can't give this a good rating. For everyone thinking this one is a masterpiece i strongly disagree. Story was decent, but i really didn't want to waste 2 hours of my life for this. But i already reached the point of no return before i realized it so i just couldn't stop.
What we all learned? Don't fuck your dad, don't do drugs, don't sell yourself, wear protection and always remember to hide the money you pick up from the locker (You know :D)

i think the first time i heard about this, i was told that it was a hentai that was impossible to fap to, and it puzzled me because i thought people were sick enough to fap to anything. regardless i don’t read hentai but with all the praise that this gets i decided to give it a go. it’s graphic but that’s coming from someone that doesn’t read a lot of hentai however i still think it’s extremely graphic.
it was just depressing, seeing this normal girl take the wrong path step after step, at one point i remember wanting to barf, i knew i ... was going to throw up, just a spiral of misery, ill think about this for a while, not the sort of thing you forget.

I’m gonna be real, I enjoyed it. Warning though this manga is very morbid and if you’re sensitive i don’t know if it is for you. I loved the psychology and it wasn’t scary or traumatizing for me.

It’s not for everyone, im someone who enjoys mangas and animes that shed light on dark topics, and morbid situations. If you are like that, and that interests you I do recommend it. And NSFW warning on it btw


The art style is very lovely, and it really gets into the depth of things that really do happen even as I type this review. It’s dark, it’s ... nsfw, really impactful. No manga is like it, i will say that.

Full of obsession, scary when exposing the dark side of society in the context that main character (main) is too naive and stupid (because if you experience many times in life, you will be smarter than here, from a-z still stupid), and if this had been the result of how to raise a child in the family and the brutality of society, she might have suffered from this since childhood, and what is the role of saki's mother? If she doesn't trust her child, why would Saki trust her? With a family like this, Saki should have been someone else. It's not normal at all. ... Anyway this is an example of a character in a world "we should have lived" thrown into the darkest part of modern society where humanity vs altruism is swallowed up by materialism, greed and evil. They have swallowed up all the good qualities of people.

Man...This manga is something. It's definitely not for the faint of heart and definitely not something you want to fap at (especially towards the end).
I read through this manga in less than 2 hours. During those two hours I was extremely interested in how it will turn out...but towards the end, I kept asking myself "when will it end" over and over again.

This manga is really tragic and interesting. But morally I can't give it more than an 8. Only because I don't like these type of train wreck stories.
If you like that sort of thing, by all means go ahead and read this. ... You'll love it.
If you're more into happy endings avoid this manga at all costs. Otherwise a great read. Will be reading more of ShindoL in the future.

I am, man I usually have a pretty thick stomach. I read a hentai and I wasn't even turned on. This manga hit home, not for me thank god. This manga is what I've seen a lot of women go through. They leave it all with some guy, its rare, but I've seen it on both sides. Especially women.

Without having any idea what the general synopsis is, the story has great pacing. It's very simple and realistic. I often found myself thinking "man this is so real." I know ... so many girls got into that hardcore stuff because some cute guy who seemed nice introduced them. It's not about dating or romance. It's about influence. It is easy for a women to make money selling her body and no one wants to say it but it does decrease your value. ZFor money, drugs, attention, opportunities.

I'm not here to judge, heck, I'd probably do the same. How real is this manga? Scary real. In fact, I want to know how someone could've possibly known all of this. Girls do having dating apps where they pretend to be under 18 and get 10,000 USD for blowjobs etc. I have experienced this.

Enjoyment: Idk. Ignore my overall grade because I do not have one. However, this manga should be in every school. It isn't a lifestyle that should be shamed. But it is one that should come with a warning label. I can only imagine the things she had to do, to climb to the last panel.

An interesting factoid about Henshin is its two English titles. The title it first appeared under in fan translations online, "Emergence", was declared a mistranslation by the original author. The author stated that the title is meant to be "Metamorphosis", as a reference to the Franz Kafka novella in which a man transforms into a giant insect. (As such, this is the title that Fakku used for their release.)

"Metamorphosis" is a much more appropriate title for this manga than "Emergence". In fact, the themes represented in this manga go against the main definition of the word 'emergence' - "the process of coming into view or ... becoming exposed after being concealed." Emergence is a recurring theme in a lot of doujin - in particular, the idea that innocent girls are all dirty whores on the inside who just need to have sex once in order to get hooked.

The main character of Henshin, Saki, does not seem to be going through an emergence when she's introduced into sex. This hentai manga has an unusual tragedy theme - a high school girl with her whole life ahead of her is suddenly introduced into the devious world of sex and drugs. Her first sexual experience is stolen by an older man who manipulates her into becoming a drug addict and a nymphomaniac - a truly devastating metamorphosis.

Shindol has truly made an unusual move for the hentai genre in publishing this, and I respect him greatly for it. Shindol has used Henshin to expose a darker side of Japan's schoolgirl culture/fetish, as well as Japanese youth in general, that other hentai has glamorized.

There are a few issues with Henshin that keep me from calling it the best hentai will ever get/"the Citizen Kane of hentai" (as I've heard it referred to as before). Some of the tragic events that happen to Saki are a bit out there/too much at once. It's almost like watching a teen soap opera, except you get to see the sex scenes. The ending is a little confusing, and depending on your interpretation may or may not upset you or change the whole meaning of the manga.

However, even if you don't usually read hentai manga, "Henshin" is definitely worth your time if you crave something unusual from common genres, or if you're a regular consumer of the tragedy genre.

I've always been told that it is impossible for hentai to make you cry..but this one definitely got me. Fuck, I've reread the last chapter multiple times and it always gets me. It's not that Saki didn't deserve it, but she didn't mean for it to happen - it wasn't what she hoped for. She simply wanted to be an adult like every other teenager. If you choose to read this, by the third or fourth chapter you'll find yourself using the tissues for something else. The saddest part about the whole scenario in Henshin/Metamorphosis, is that it's not completely unrealistic. I'm sure things like ... this have happened before. If you find yourself with a bit of extra time, I'd suggest reading this.

Overall: I hate everybody that suggested I read this, I wish I had never existed after reading this. Definitely would read again if Shindo L made the Josuke ending offical. Shindo L definitely has talent in writing stories that affect its readers, and I look forward to reading more of his works in the future. 10/10

First things first: this is a hentai manga. If you just want to flog the dolphin, just do it and don't take this review seriously. However, if you want to see what Emergence, or Metamorphosis, is all about, go ahead and take a seat.

Emergence is perhaps one of the most infamous hentai mangas. I would argue it's also one of the most overhyped ones. People keep hyping it up as this disturbing, thought-provoking, and deep hentai manga, which I believe it's not. Emergence certainly has a plot that is deeper than most hentai mangas, but it does nothing meaningful with it. It's just a device ... for the main character to have sex with the most despicable, ugly men in the most humiliating ways. At times it's just kind of ridiculous, I don't mean it in a "THERE'S TOO MUCH SEX IN MY HENTAI MANGA!!" way, but it's like every single man she encounters wants to abuse or rape her in some way. It's very bleak and also what makes the manga so disturbing. It's also why I don't think the manga is as deep as people try to make it out to be, aside from our main character none of the side characters have any depth or nuance to them.

I'm going to be honest here, perhaps it's because I've seen movies with similar concepts but with a better execution, this didn't do much for me in terms of emotional weight. Sure, I do feel really bad for the main character, but everything is so over the top disturbing and every side character is so irredeemably evil that I found it hard to take it seriously. I didn't expect a happy ending; in fact, I like that the author chose for a sad ending, but one or two moments of actual hope for the future would have made this manga far more emotional.

But what am I ranting about anyhow, this is just a hentai manga made for obvious purposes. The art is good and the sex scenes are, errr, very detailed. Give it a try if you're curious but if you're not used to bleak and disturbing stories like this, pass on it.

I am giving this a 10/10, however, this manga is depressing and shocking to such a degree it can become traumatising. You may end up thinking about it for weeks to come, like I did.. Therefore I can not recommend it. It is simply too sadness and rage inducing. It sort of seems like ShindoL made this just to royally fuck up your day.

This manga is extremely depressing and depicts a worst case outcome of life where everything goes wrong, and I do mean everything. Saki, the main character, does not experience a single truly good experience throughout the entire 225 page story. This is ... "misery porn" to such an extent it ceases being porn and only remains misery.

This manga has gotten a lot of praise for its realism and refusal for pulling punches. In my opinion, each scenario Saki goes through is, in isolation, realistic (except one by the end), but all of these scenarios happening to the same person, one after the other, is a bit bizarre. I believe the story as a whole to be unrealistic, In the same way as I think winning the lottery 5 times in a row is unrealistic. This does not mean I think the story is bad though.

The story is very captivating, emotional, and well written. It is entirely focused on Saki and her struggle to be accepted, and that focus truly pays off. The ending is devastating, absolutely devastating. Its like a Saitama serious punch right in your tear duct.

Saki herself is very naive, but cute and likeable. She is a victim of other characters faults and terrible actions. When she tries to improve her situation, it only gets worse, most often of no fault of her own. There is only one decision she took that I personally can not reason nor relate to.

The art is superb, as expected from ShindoL. Nothing to point out really. Simply superb.

The story and character of this h-manga is way better than they should be. If you are looking for something to get hard to, this is not it, at least not the second half..

I am rating this doujin with consideration that this is an hentai. But more than an hentai this is something which can happen or happens in real life. Of course it has huge PP and bucket load of coome because its hentai but aside from that no matter what one says i would call this a masterpiece. First the story is focused more on Saki and the character is written to perfection. A shy introverted girl who does not know how ZA WARUDO works and because of this people take advantage of her. Each chapter there is a huge difference from what she was before. ... As far as the plot goes it moves along with Saki and as far as how the plot is the story could not be written any better. By the end of the manga as a person it had changed me and it thought me to understand people before you can judge them. If they are in need of help as a responsible human we have to help a person. The story in conclusion is about a person chosing the wrong path because of bad circumstances. A MASTERPIECE DOUJIN....

When you read or watch hentai (as well as real porn) you never care about the story. You are there just for the sex (and sometimes the ridiculous and bizarre situations), which is why the authors never bother writing a coherent plot, they just try to make an excuse to make the characters have sex with each other.

Nobody expects a good or interesting plot when they are about to read a hentai manga, that genre just isn't meant for that... but once you experience Emergence (or Henshin in japanese), that entire idea begins to blur.

I don't have much to say about Emergence that ... hasn't been said before, but I'll say this: normally, in every hentai manga or anime I read/watch, I skip the story moments to go straight to the sex scenes, but when I read Emergence I did the contrary, in fact I didn't even want to see any sex scenes because they would only make me feel even worse for the main character. Emergence definitely isn't your everyday hentai manga, it's something special on its own. It's a very, very rare situation where you are more concerned and interested in the story than just the sex... IN A HENTAI MANGA.

Emergence (and this is the first time I'll ever say this about a hentai story) is a masterpiece. It's tragic, sad, devastating, emotional, uncomfortable to watch (in a good way), it has made me feel more emotions than most of the anime I have watched. It's a piece of fiction that breaks the molds of what we are used to see in hentai manganime, a piece of fiction that will leave a big emotional scar on you. What's so great about Emergence is that it actually feels "real", you see things that could (and may have) happen in real life, unlike the typical weird situations that we see in most hentai manganime as an excuse for a sex scene.

It's not free from flaws of course. The 7th (and also best) episode feels a bit forced and exaggerated, as well as some issues I have with Saki, but none are problems that could ruin this amazing experience.

If you haven't read Emergence and you are thinking of doing it, then you better be ready like you've never been before. Arm yourself with a strong emotional armor and embark in this tragic, depressive story. If you want to experience a story that will emotionally destroy you, you will not be disappointed. It's so devastating that I would actually not recommend it to anyone... because you won't be yourself for quite sometime after reading it.

So, i really can't express how much i hated and loved this manga tbh, so let's start. The girl in the beginning starts off as a normal middle school girl, you know nerdy style, barely talks to people of her age, and you know the rest.
After graduating, she finally decides to change herself to see if she can make any friends, and she does that by asking her mom for advice, and OH BOY was that the worst idea that she could've ever think off.

Story : Well it's that type of story to get you anxiety and makes you confuse on why she chose that ... life while still being an high schooler. 6/10.

Art : Tbh it's really good, the face expressions when she, "you know" did the dirty with other man was on point. 8/10.

Character : The typical high schooler that wanted to change herself, did it but instead of making the choice of joining the "Light Side", she went for the "Dark Side" but with shitty parents like her's, i can't blame her too much. 7/10.

Enjoyment : There were a few chapters that almost made me drop this "manga", so i kinda had to force myself to finish it 6/10.

Overall : Some might enjoy it, some might hate it and maybe even some like myself will hate and enjoy it at the same time, it's a good sauce to masturbate until you realized that the plot was important, and then you will feel like trash because you just masturbated to a girl that didn't have any idea what was she doing, and was only getting used by other man. 7/10.

I just can't believe that this manga is rated 7? Are y'all okay?

How do I begin... I stumbled upon this manga because of memes and posts talking about how sad, impactful, and well-written it was for a hentai manga and I went on-board with that in mind. My expectations were incredibly high since I'm a young woman trying to enjoy more erotic and heavy-plot content and it was inevitable to feel weird out by how fucked up this shit was.

So let me begin per section.

"Metamorphosis deconstructs how hentai is viewed" my ass. I'm a believer that even hentai is an object of criticism as ... any other type of work. So with that in mind, the story did not provoke me nor triggered the need to start questioning myself about anything. What's in the plot that would've made me feel like this hentai is trying to give me a message? Nothing. Just purely shock value content. I totally understand that some people may have cried while reading it but is not because the story is rich in content or social criticism neither realism, it's just because the events presented here are just dreadful.

What part of the story is giving you the idea that our views regarding erotic content should be questioned? It doesn't exist. I can search for other hentai manga with the same topics and I assure you that it will probably be more well-written than Metamorphosis. Even if the intentions of Shindo are to ask ourselves what the fuck are we doing reading hentai, the message simply doesn't come across because it fails in its delivery: Metamorphosis fails as a social critique because this is not a story to think about it, it's just porn -the one that could be qualified in some type of disturbing media iceberg.

I couldn't even read the whole thing because the so-called story is so repetitive that I just wanted to finish it! I want you to recall the events told here: Saki wanted to be more out-going and those attempts led her to become a victim of rape, bullying, and abandonment till her death. Nothing else, a whole repetitive cycle of brutalism against this girl by different people, there is no questioning in our own values -other than "Why I am reading this?"- neither about the characters and their motives. More about that further in this review though.

Are vile and disgusting people out there in the real world? Obviously, but this is well-known without needing to read a hentai manga where the protagonist is violated just because. Even in that aspect, Saki didn't have any reason to be involved there. There was no real reason that led those events to happen, they were not a consequence of a bigger and impactful motive. The cruelty here just happened because is pure shock value from the author.

And the final, oh my lord, the final.

Shindo was not satisfied with Saki living through those horrible things so he decided to just kill her. Once again, there is no instance to use any critical thinking skills here. Yeah, she lived that way between addictions and sex and then what? She died? How sad, poor little girl, yeah yeah. Now, what hentai doujin should I read next?

Now, Shindo has a great talent, that's for sure. I will always remember Shindo because he's just that good. And, well, his skills while drawing porn are great too!

The character design is good too, there's not much to say about it because it is not outstanding, but throughout the manga, it clearly worked to demonstrate how Saki changed from being this shy, cute and naive girl to what she later becomes.

And with that said, Saki's character is just... poor. Going back to my take on how badly this manga did to show any type of instance of critical thinking, some of the thoughts that people may have had are "She did this to herself" and "She did some really bad decisions" but the thing is Saki did decide nothing. Like, literally she couldn't even take any decision by herself because she had been raped, drugged, and bullied by every single person she encountered. The only thing that comes to my mind as a sane decision was when she wanted to keep the baby. But that's it.

Keeping the same thought process, if this was meant to be a masterpiece regarding the social critique aspect, it did a bad job with the lack of depth in the perpetrators of those events, meaning that there's no real background in any of the characters to deliberately make us go "Wow, so that's why".

So...

I clearly did not enjoy reading this, and I'm sure this wasn't meant to be enjoyed anyways- if there's someone who truly enjoyed this manga... yikes. But you did not enjoy reading this because the story was sad, it was just because the sadistic events were horrifying enough to collect some tears that added absolutely nothing important to this topic.

So that's an overall 3 points for the art and yeah. If you are willing to read this manga, please read with caution since it has a lot of trigger warnings aside from the obvious porno characteristics!

I never thought a Hentai manga would make me cry in the end. It shows how cruel and unfair the world can be. The MC Sakura didn't have a atleast a single decent adult to show her the right path and be there for her. Not even her mother. A girl who just want attention ends up choosing the wrong path and gets tortured and raped without knowing what's that she is doing wrong. It's really heartbreaking.
Even though the story is thought provoking after all it's just porn with great exaggeration and sexualisation of the characters that makes some of the readers feel disgusted.

Henshin is the best hentai that I’ve ever read, no doubt about it. From a compelling storyline to nicely written characters, Henshin is good.

Henshin’s storyline starts with a young highschool girl named ‘Saki’. What could possibly go wrong? A lot does, she experiences a metamorphosis, not the pretty butterfly type, the bad version of that. 7 chapters of pure tragedy mixed in with sadness. This story isn’t one of those jerk and go hentai’s, it’s more of a tear ‘jerker’. I loved the storyline and remember it ‘till this day. Everything makes sense and is explained throughout the story. You understand Saki as a character, ... no as someone who is close to you. You feel for this character in so many ways. The art in Henshin is phenomenal and just so breathtaking. It adds to the atmosphere that the story emulates so perfectly. Shindo L’s drawings are amazing, they make Henshin what it is. Every scene is a breath of fresh air, a reminder that the darkness has still not stopped.

The characters in Henshin are either pure disgust, or just depressing. Saki is the sweet innocent girl who gets shown the real world in the worst ways imaginable. Whereas, a beefy ugly bastard is what you’d call not a saint, but more like a disgusting mess of a human. You’re either born a victim or a perpetrator in this hentai, no in between. Every character makes sense, especially Saki.


I enjoyed it a lot. Henshin isn’t just another hentai made to make you feel ‘something’, it’s made to tell a story. A story about being taken advantage of and used to a point of no return. Henshin is a depressing, and even disgusting portal into the real world where something like this has probably occurred, or is even occurring as you read this. I love stories that shed light on the cruelty that really anyone can experience, and how batshit crazy the world really is. Shindo L has done a great job and I commend him for it
