After looking around at the Erotic Fairy Tales and finding this grouping of 4 stories, I think I might have found the first book in the series (until I end up finding another one at least). Since this is a series of 4 stories, I shall try to talk about each one of them. Again, I much as the two reviews I did before for ‘The Little Mermaid’ and ‘Red Riding Hood,’ these are not stories for children. There are a lot of sexual things in this.
First is the very cute story called ‘Snow White.’ Notice how I did not say Snow White and the
...
Seven Dwarves as there aren’t really any Dwarves in this. I know it’s strange in that aspect but I think it worked out really well. May is a rather cute young girl who had grown up with the most innocent idea ever, that her prince would marry her and then wake her up each morning with a simple kiss. Kite isn’t that far off then she is though in how dense he could be. I actually couldn’t really stand the Kite after we meet the woodcutter in the story because of how awesome the woodcutter actually was. Ah yes, instead of Dwarves really, we have a woodcutter who has little dwarf-like fairies who live with him. You can probably tell she gets with one of the two but I won’t spoil it. J the demon is in this one as well, and I talked about him before in the other manga. This was more like The Little Mermaid in that he had a very tight hand on everything that was happening. I don’t like it all that much when he does that stuff as I think it would be just as fun without him around.
The next story is ‘The Little Match Girl.’ This is a story about an orphan girl named Nene who used to sell matches for the church until the priest sent her to be a maid for a Lord. Can you guess who the Lord is? Yep, non other then the demon J… I don’t get it too. I just face palmed when I saw that it was him and that he had a nephew (Hal) who was going to live with him. Now this story did have a nice little twist that wasn’t really brought on by J but my enjoyment of this one wasn’t as much as the snow white story. I think partly because I was sure J was going to do something... because he normally does. It was an ok story on its own.
‘Bluebeard’ is the next story and it actually started out more like the original tale. A very sweet and innocent girl named Mel marries a ruler of the land she lived in who was known for being a tyrant. She rarely spoke to him or even see him as he was always going out on different journeys so instead, she would wonder the house exploring. One day, she was exploring with a bunch of keys J gave her (J was the butler this time…) and finds a large city within the house. Much like with the ‘Little Match Girl’ it had a very good twist that actually worked out really well. Not only that, but J barely had any sort of screen time which made it all the more enjoyable.
The next story is called ‘Black.’ This is not actually a fairy Tale but more of a study of J. I think this might have been the only time I was actually alright with J in fact as he was one of the main characters and had someone bugging him so much. There was no erotic sex in this one really but we did get a bit more information on why J does what he does. This did not however change my thinking of the character when he is in all the other stories, but it did clear up something for me. He is the author of all the erotic books and he makes the worlds. In this case, it kind of was easier to understand why he was playing god, and at the same time I still cannot break away the fact that I am supposed to believe these characters are living beings inside his books. Like a god playing with his creation, he sets up the stories to ‘grow’ the type of people he wants in his collection.
So for much of the stories that were put within this, the sex was not really the main point of the story. You could have substituted any number of things with the sex and it would of worked out really well.
The artwork in all of these stories is very beautiful with no real variation between the stories. The characters do not always look exactly like what you would expect them to be, such as May not having hair as black as night and all that but the designs are still pretty cute. The sex is pretty normal to what you will see in other erotic manga without really showing every inch of the characters. Less is more in those panels I think as it was much more romantic. There really isn’t much for me to talk about with the artwork that I did not talk about in my other reviews sadly.
So much like all the other ones before, it was actually rather good. For as much as I do not like the ‘master author’ J, I can understand the want to create interesting stories and have them play out in fun ways. These stories are a little better then the other two manga’s I reviewed in this franchise that they didn’t actually go on to long. They were short and had satisfying endings that didn’t need to be stretched with additional content.
