Both are highly different, but are united in that they are set in the USA and are based in two genres based from and influenced from their culture: film noir and western.

While the settings of both manga are different (one is set in Japan while the other is set in America), there are two commonalities between them - the fact that there's a detective that takes on extremely unusual cases, and that those cases are often solved at the end of the chapter itself. So if you're looking for episodic mystery/supernatural cases that are solved, you can definitely pick up either of the manga.

Both manga represent the hard-boiled genre, dealing with similar themes, such as crime, sex, and violence. Both have a hitman/yakuza as a main character, and each chapter puts him in a different situation. Both are mature works that create the same mood.

Both manga fall under the "noir fiction" genre. The artist of both manga is Jiro Taniguchi, so the art and character designs are similar. Both deal with similar themes, such as sex, crime, and violence. Also, overall, they create the same atmosphere.
