Kairi and Momo are attending university together and are finally happy...but Sae has been left behind after failing her last year of high school—she should've attended class a bit more! Follow Sae's adventures as she reunites with a childhood love and deals with high school life once again.
After reading all eighteen volumes of "Peach Girl", I was excited to read the sequal, "Peach Girl: Sae's Story". During the second half of "Peach Girl", I had grown to like Sae, so I had wanted to read something from her perspective. (I had also wanted to get a break from Momo.) I was not too disappointed. I felt that it was a bit short, though. "Sae's Story" was a pretty good sequal.
Story: Like its predecessor, "Sae's Story" was more of a chain of events rather than a thick plot. It mainly follows the love life of Sae, who, despite her good grades, gets held back a year in high school due to skipping classes. We also get to learn more about Sae's past.
Art: The art is great. There is something about Miwa Ueda's art that I really like. The characters are drawn very nicely, and the cover art is great too. (I especially like the cover for volume two!)
Character: Like the art, the characters are also great. Momo and Kiley reappear, although they are mostly background characters. We are treated to a few new characters, such as Kanji, Sae's childhood friend and first love, and two of Sae's short lived boyfriends. I really liked Kanji.
Enjoyment/Overall: As I said before, I had enjoyed this manga. It is a good sequal to "Peach Girl". However, I wish it could have been longer though, because I would have liked to see more happen between Kanji and Sae. Ah well. Overall, it was very good.read more
Well, I first watched the Peach Girl series (Anime) and at the end, I kind of wondered what will happen to Sae or Touji, will she go back with Kairi's brother? or will she go and goof some random men like she use to do or will Touji be with Sae? So I researched and found Sae's story:
The story doesn't have a big connection to the main title "Peach Girl" It's just Sae's life after her friends graduated and she went back to high school because of her lack of credit attendance (mild spoiler). The title says it all "Sae's story" that's the only thing that you'll read on the manga. The story is good, but its lacking in romance, drama and storyline.
The new Character" Sawatari, Kanji" also called "Saru" by Sae. Development on his character is "kinda of" what I expected: Childhood friend, knows Sae's past, a knight in shining armor, childhood promises. There's nothing special about the character and his actions in the story are predictable. Other new characters are not worth mentioning, they just suck period. On Sae's part, she's just keep getting better and better but her personality didn't change at all. She's still our plain naughty, vicious and arrogant Sae.
Plain, Clean, viewable, readable. The characters are drawn properly, not rushed.
It was fun while it lasted, I just hope they added more content to it. I want moar! :(
I recommend this manga to all of you who finished reading/watching Peach Girl. I know everyone who read/watched Peach girl hated Sae at first and loved her at the end if your curious what happens next. Here's your next volume to read.
