xxxHOLiC: Rei is a very... interesting yet mean read. After coming hot off the heels that was xxxHOLic's over depressing and rushed ending you would hope this new continuation would try to maybe rework that ending.
It starts with mostly just giving us more stories of the same characters giving a good amount of new stories that come from before a lot of the more interesting character developments from the original xxxHolic which is fine, it's nice to see more stories of our main cast of characters, especially since they also push Watanuki's affection for Yuuko a little more but overall don't add much to ...

xxxHolic, in my opinion, serves as a continuation of the main series, but exactly how well does it do in that regard? For starters, everything about the series is relatively consistent, and it appears that the status quo has been restored since the ending. Allegedly so, anyway. With this brings back a fair amount of the original manga's pluses and negatives: pacing, writing, how much you like the characters, are all hit-or-miss for the most part, and this is large dependent on how you felt towards the main manga as a whole.
