So, my first review. Decided to do this because I saw no one else has reviewed this so wanted to be the first.
So, this is basically the manga version of the the Corpse Party Hysteric Birthday game. My first thought when seeing this manga, was how were they gonna adapt a 12 hour visual novel in 13 chapters of manga.
The answer? They couldn't. They adapted the chapter 0, 1 and 2 better and more in depth than I expected it to. Chapter 3 started out similarly to the visual novel, then it took a hard turn into something quite different, probably to help adapt quickr

as well. Didn't bother adapting adapting the several remaining chapters and instead did something completely manga original. Which I'd be fine with if not for the fact that this entire chapter seriously made no sense and was just a goddamn mess. Before quickly adapting the ending of the visual novel out of no where once this part was over, completely rushing it and made it feel like it ended randomly. It may have been the exact same end as the VN, but it completely lacks the emotional gut punch that the VN had.
I'm bad at writing organized reviews, I'm just gonna give my thoughts as they come up.
-We didn't need this manga. Like, out of all the Corpse Party mangas, this is one we probably needed the least. There is pretty much no reason to read this manga unless you're played Corpse Party Blood Covered and Corpse Party Book of Shadows first and you'd be much better off just playing the original game this manga is based off instead of touching this. Why I say this is that the characters backstories and personalities are all set up in those games whilst this story takes it for granted. It assumes you know all these other characters too. Otherwise, I guarantee you you'd be pretty confused trying to follow the many, many characters in ths manga.
-Didn't bother adapting the Azusa chapter, which whilst understandable is a shame considering its a great chapter and subverts the reader's perception of Azusa completely. Also, Azusa and Ran being in the story don't make sense without that chapter.
-Art style is comfortably the worst of all the Corpse Party mangas I've read so far. Its not cute or creepy, some might even call it straight up ugly tbh. That said, I think the artist was quite creative with his or her drawings despite the style so I gave it a 5. One good thing about the art style is that it does fit the comedic tone of the game more than the original art style of the game. Perhaps some might say that the dissonance between the creepy and solid art style of the game and the actual plot is part of the point but eh, I didn't mind losing this. I much preferred for example, the way Yoshikazu was drawn here much more than in the original game.
-I did like the fact that this manga always made it seem like everyone was always present during an event. The game had chapters where they only focussed on a small group of characters for the entire chapter and the rest of the characters were completely gone, supposedly being somewhere random in the school and never appearing unless Sachiko(or more precisely the story requires them). Whereas every every event in this manga, everyone was involved. Considering the entire thing is supposed to be like a school festival where everyone is supposed to be involved, I preferred the way the manga did it. It also helps sell the idea of everyone having having fun and growing to care for Sachiko whilst she does the same for them better.
So yeah, can't think of any other thoughts so I'll just finish wiith how much I enjoyed of the manga. Not very much, but I appreciated a couple of little things. Its entire thing is basically just constant absurdist, over the top random humour and as dumb as that is, I was at least slightly entertained just reading the entire mess this was. So, 5/10. That said, you'd be hard pressed to find me rate something lower than 5/10 since I can usually find good things in everythng.
