Recommendations

Both titles help the reader learn about a real medical condition that many people know nothing about through the story of a family. A child with this unusual condition is born to an unknowing family who slowly learns how to take care of them and love their differences, despite the trials they face for being different.

If you read one or the other you can see why I recommended it. They are both similar in certain aspects, situations, and more. Trust me.

Both series deal with gender identity in a serious manner. I.S. features many different sets of characters while Hourou Musuko focuses on one group of kids as they mature over several years.

These two have really similar air and i guarantee that they’re both moving and real. They both give insight into what these people go through, shimanami is about LGBT and IS about intersex people.

Both of these are stories about people struggling in society for being different. While one is about mentally unique and challenged individuals, the other is about the physically distinct (intersex) people. Both mana are very insightful and bittersweet, as they explore the resulting effects and outcomes of such environment and conditions on their feelings and daily lives.

This is a one way recommendation, first of all. If you like the romance of the main pairing in IS, you should definitely check out Rutta to Kodama because they are extremely similar. Both relationships rely on trust and leaning on each others strengths. They're less sexual and more spiritual and romantic. Both of the submissive characters are similar to one another as well and look the same.

These series are similar in a way of both dealing with being an inter sexual. While inter sexuality is the bottom line of I.S. and making it a serious series, is it in The Day of Revolution a steppingstone for a nice comedy story set-up.

While the stories are very different, both are bitter sweet and raise interesting questions about society and public perceptions (though I.S. is much more eye-opening), both have humour, good story lines and cheerful characters.

These series are similar with being a serious Gender Bender. While I.S. deals with being inter sexual, Ai no Shintairiku deals with being transsexual.
